Thanks y'all. Heavy work schedule for a while, (I think), but I'm surprised to realized that Aleph is actually moving along nicely. I had thought it would be a very long build, based on the parts count, but so far it''s not bad, especially considering that so far I'm spending more than half of my modeling time on the Gimel.

Well. I actually had a break, and did the turret baskets for both. Good thing I have lots of spare parts, cuz I broke some AFVC stuff, easy to do since it's thin, thin, thin. Tan parts are Tamiya, trimmed and persuaded to fit. IMG_5161 by Russel Baer, on Flickr My hope is that I don't destroy them as I finish both.

Or was that photo etched parts? How thick is the photo etched parts? I've been looking at brass shim stock and you can get it in a roll very thin.

Thanks y'all. I had a find yesterday, on the floor, looking for something I'd just shot at the wall, and found a part I'd launched a couple of days ago. Gee whiz Wally. Sty: both baskets use PE parts, AFV Club, comes in the kit. I have an Eduard PE set also, but it's for Tamiya/Academy kits, and the mesh is noticeably different, no real surprise there. I may use some parts from it, or just save it for the next one. Bucky old buddy old pal, yup, but it would have to of such a fine mesh I'd suffocate. These parts are just stupid small.

And a cupola: IMG_5559 by Russel Baer, on Flickr The 30cal MG mount and a stowage mount for the searchlight the only real modifications I've made on this kit, and by gosh, it's ready for primer. Turret is done too: IMG_5558 by Russel Baer, on Flickr The tank I'm modeling has very little stowage too, so I'm going to go a different path this time and add it after the base coat, see how that works for me.

Okay, Urdan cupola from an Academy kit is detailed up and corrected, and on Gimel's turret: IMG_5563 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Aside from the newer Academy Magach kits the older Magach6 has one of the better kit parts out there, and with a little love makes a pretty good representation. I have a Meng 6BGal Batash in the stash, which has a very nice cupola, but no touchie!

Well t'anks y'all. Today was fun, I started the ERA on the Gimel hull, using a combination of Academy and Verlinden pieces, and adding one more manufacturer's product to the mix. I may try and find another Academy MAgach, as I'm out of the turret ERA (thought I had a bunch, no joy) and the ESCI parts are not great. The Verlinden parts are okay, but they're puddle-cast, with a thick pour block, and brittle too. Also, being resin, they'll be fragile, as I use short pegs at each actual mounting point. I dunno.... anyway, the pic: IMG_5565 by Russel Baer, on Flickr
