After four-plus hours: Slow, lots of teenie tiny parts, three parts to make what Tamiya does with one, but crazy detail. Really crazy detail. Also soft plastic.
So I was looking at the stash, and this one kind of levitated out. I bought it in Vegas, about three years ago. Christy (my wife) and I walked from the mid-strip area to the HobbyTown, a long walk, and after a cold refreshing beverage at the Friday's next door, I shopped. My first impression back then was "LOTS of parts, mostly very small parts". Well, still true, but I wanted some FRESH wine, and also wanted to continue with the theme of wifely associated builds, so here I am. I've already spent a good thirty minutes on my hands and knees looking for tweezer-launched microscopic parts. Good thing I'm on a concrete floor.... More, as it (slowly) happens

Well gents, I'm still on it, but it's a little frustrating: I spend way too much time on the floor, on my hands and knees looking for parts so small I ahve to wear my optivisor to see them. This thing has some stupidly small parts, and a lot of them have tweezer grease on them. So far, I have the hull front buttoned up, with the driver's compartment painted well enough to look the part through an open hatch. I'm also roughing in the hull's fighting compartment partitions (NOT gonna do the turret basket) just so I can't see the emptiness in ther with the turret hatches open. IMG_4372 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_4371 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I'm already looking at a couple of recent Tamiya kits in the stash, thinking I may pop one out just for therapy.

It's a new thing, the AFV Club crawl, kind of like a pub crawl..... So once more into the pit, I broke some little thingie getting it off the sprue, tossed my hands in the air, went outside and had a smoke, then came back in and grabbed the M60A3 out of the stash and got my part. The -A3 kit was already missing a couple of parts, like the tracks and drive sprockets, and now a widget. So, now I have lots more parts, enough to move ahead on something else, also M60-ish: that will also end up in IDF sand gray, an ESCI hull started a few months ago. I've got AFV Club parts, Takom parts, Tamiya and Academy parts, resin parts..... I've got parts. So, the AFV Club hull as it is now: IMG_4428 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I'm using MrSurfacer and sanding to clean up the incorrect texture, tedious. And the "project in parallel", one with running gear test-fitted: IMG_4429 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_4430 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Magach-o-mania!

And beat I will! The "other one" caught up to the "first one": IMG_4433 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_4431 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I found quite a few useful bits in the resin stash, like the front fender extensions and a bunch of towing lugs. Now it's time to get back on the green one.
