T'anks y'all. I spent about two hours doing gun travel locks, or more correctly, "looking for parts to gun travel locks that were launched using the increasing/decreasing tension method".

Aleph's hull is done, Gimel done up to adding ERA and other specific Magach6C stuff, so I pulled the turret out for Aleph and started. Gun assembly is in, flexible plastic mantlet cover is very nice, and even the gun breech is pretty good. At this point, I'm using MrSurfacer to reduce AFVC's hugely overdone texture, before doing any exterior details. I've also got the gun tube for Gimel started, that one being all plastic and multiple pieces.  IMG_4876 by Russel Baer, on Flickr |

Ahhhhhhh, texture. Or the lack thereof. AFV Club got ham fisted with the "cast" texture on this kit, but hey, I use MrSurfacer on everything anyway. |

Thaks Joe. I'm a lot happier with it than I thought I might be, and now I have the Gimel turret caught up as well. I used the kit covered mantlet on it as well, could have gone either way there but it's a nice part.  IMG_5105 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I wish AFV Club had skipped the "recoil" function of the gun tube, as they used a soft plastic bellows which has a difficult to remove mold seam. I looked around for something else, but my favorite substitute, a flexible drinking straw, was too small. |

And after a couple hours of adding details:  IMG_5106 by Russel Baer, on Flickr The tan lower searchlight mounts on Gimel's turret are there because I shot one of the AFVC parts into the 9th dimension, not even gonna look for it. Gunner's sights are nice parts, well detailed, only issue I had was the part for Gimel, actually an M60A3TTS. The rotating sight cover won't fit under the housing cover, so I left it out, depicting an open sight. I'm okay. |
