True dat Marco, it's tedious build. Oh well. And engine decks, AFVC hull with the fenders on too: IMG_4515 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Those fenders are very nice, thin and well detailed, with about a dozen pin marks on the bottom of each. I also haadn't planned on adding all the individual handles on the ESCI hull, but I think they look really good, anad should paint up nicely.

A little more done, fender braces added to both, some scratching on the ESCI (hereafter known as the Gimel) hull, the AFVC hull (now identifying as Alef) being a little easier. I'm trying to copy all the detail I can onto Gimel, using Alef as my, er.... "model". Storage boxes are next, and there will probably be a lot of green on Gimel when I'm done. IMG_4627 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_4628 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I got to scratching my head last night, thinking "why didn't I just use ESCI or Tamiya parts from the stash and build TWO AFVC models?" Well heck, that would've been too easy.

I just love this stuff, like that Don Q dude loved windmills.... Every time I do a step or two on Aleph I try, within reason, to copy it on Gimel, if applicable, for instance the bilge pump exit, on Aleph but something the IDF did away with. Anyhootch, both hulls are getting close to where they'll be really separate builds, Gimel getting ERA packs and M60A3 turret details, with Aleph gong to way of stockness, with one IDF modification. I'm also at the point of really being able to see how "off" the old ESCI hull is dimension-wise. I knew it was closer than the Tamiya/Academy hulls, never having to accommodate a motor and batteries, but things like the fender rear dust shields from AFVC don't fit it at all. Of course as soon as I finished thinning and fitting some plastic Academy parts I found a whole, unopened Eduard etch set for the Tamiya M60. Perfect. The plastic stays. IMG_4661 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_4663 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_4664 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I came within an inch of carving the fender stowage boxes off of Gimel, then had a reality check. I'm okay now.

Thanks Steve. Quality time at the bench today, air filters and stowage box lids on. I did some reshaping on Gimel's boxes, and cut out the kit fenders at the air filters and spliced in Dragon parts, adding some basic detail under the fenders, again using Aleph as a guide. Both got side loading filter housings, standard on Aleph but retrofitted the all the -A3's Israel received as part of the "Brown Deals" after the YKW, so I used AFVC parts on both. Aleph's hull is almost done, Gimel will receive ERA packs, so that will probably time to break it off into a separate thread.
