Very good info, Robert! I might borrow that to put in the "TIPS" section! I can do up a actual tip thread a little later, with actual photos and demos of the various uses. It just might be a while. That would be great, Robert! I believe that would help some builders that may be needing help with it! Do it up when ya can, bro!

I've been in a bit of a modeling malaise over the past few weeks...a general funk that I just couldn't seem to shake. However, this week has been somewhat better. It started over the weekend when I managed to spend a day getting all the suspension arms attached to the lower hull and then a couple more days to get all the wheels and sprockets cleaned and assembled: Then I took a day off on Monday for my weekly brewery visits. Once back at it, I spent a couple days finishing up the rear of the hull - with the exception of the stowage bins. I attached the exhaust pipes, added the cross bar to each pipes opening, put on the rear pintle, and then turned to the jack. I cut off the molded handles and made new ones out of copper wire. I added the bottom PE support plate and the upper mounding clasp before gluing it into position. Then came the hard part... Neither the kit nor the PE set comes with the exhaust mounting brackets commonly seen on Panther G's before the armored shields were added in June. Since my build is representing an April or May production model, I needed to scratch build the mounting brackets for each pipe. I used scrap pieces of PE of uniform size from an old set to make the rear part of each bracket and then added the strap wrapped around the pipe. Finally, I added two small plastic bolt heads to each side and called the parts done: That does it for today. I don't want to burn myself out just when the motivation is starting to return. Until next time...

Very good progress, RL! What are the crossbars for in the exhaust pipes?

Very good progress, RL! What are the crossbars for in the exhaust pipes? IIRC, they were added to prevent small explosives being dropped into the pipes - which would have fallen all the way down and back to the manifold in the engine compartment - or pour spouts on containers of gasoline. At least that's the way I remember it. I honestly don't know if there is a reliable report of explosives or gas being used this way...kind of like Zimmerit and magnetic mines (the Russians never really used them!). Thanks for the reply...

Thanks for the tidbit of info, Robert! I have learned a lot about tanks from you guys over the past year, but I still need to learn more!
