Most of those who have relocated to the OSM are familiar with my only current build, but for those who may not have seen it I'll do a quick overview of the progress thus far. The build started on 3 July and was to include all of the following: The Tank Workshop resin interior was extremely detailed and complex. After installation, painting, and weathering, it looked like this: I've also completed construction of the turret, including the Jordi Rubio barrel, as well as applied all of the Cavalier resin Zimmerit: There are other photos (45 of them), but I think this will suffice for a quick recap. Until next time...

Good to see this one again. That zimm looks sweet, what did you use to stick it with? Great question, Robbo! Many years ago, I got turned on to a product called "Bindex" made by Pebeo. It's actually a water-based acrylic binder that forms the basis for artists to make their own paint. In its raw form - before pigments and a thinner are added - it's an opaque, thick medium that applies much like "gel" CA glue, but it's much more forgiving as it takes between 20 minutes to several hours to dry (depending on the thickness and access to air). It dries completely clear to a consistency of something very similar to rubber cement. Once dry, it is completely insoluble (to water or solvents) and will remain in place unless some effort it made to remove it...usually with an x-acto knife, but does peel off plastic relatively easily. I use Bindex for things like the application of this Zimmerit, as the base for homemade mud, ice, or slush, and also for the application of some small parts (resin, plastic, or PE). I bought a one liter container about 10 years ago and to date I think I've used about a fifth of it...needless to say, it might outlive me. It looks like Pebeo are no longer making just the generic Bindex, but now make either a "brilliant" (gloss) or a "mat" (flat) version. For most of my applications, I don't think the type matters. Hope that helps...

Very good info, Robert! I might borrow that to put in the "TIPS" section! I can do up a actual tip thread a little later, with actual photos and demos of the various uses. It just might be a while.

Robert I'm glad to see this here as well. I always love watching your work. I'll have to go looking for that Bindex too; I have a few ideas for it's use.

Thanks for all the replies! Over the past few days the progress have been sporadic at best. However, unlike a couple weeks ago, at least I'm getting to the bench nearly every day...that's better than walking past it! I did manage to get all the remaining turret parts assembled and then painted all the interior surfaces to match the rest of the turret. Since none of the Panther hatches face outward when open, they all remain ivory colored. After adding the interior wash, here's what the inside surfaced looked like: Then I added all the parts to the turret - as well as all the other bits and pieces - and it's now ready for paint. Note - the top and rear hatches are "taped" in position and will be displayed open once the build is complete: Until next time...
