Yup - Sea state immaterial... Rough or smooth, I can deal with it😎
Taking the rest of the day off actually, need to rearrange my spares boxes and sort fru me brass bits (full sheets n spares) Then I'll see wot I gots in the way of RN and Allied WW2 Cruisers to mess with...(don't feel like playin mit German jobs at present - its only temporary I assure you 😳) I know there's a quite a few RN jobs, plus a couple of Dutchmen, at least a trio of Yankee jobs and (if I look hard enough) a lonely Russki job round here somewheres...🤔😎
Resin jobs tend to go together quickly round here - well, quicker than styrene anyways ! 😈😆 Only way to git certain ships in 700th, dunno why some bods are so skeered of resin kits ! 😗🎵🎶🤫 Nothin' to em really !
Regards OB of nuthin'to be afeared of and superglue is handy for fixing cuts (in me - assuming I have knife dramas !) 😉 Thinking of shelving the styrene destroyers (temporarily !) and exhuming a few more resin examples from the stash - plenty there to play with after all ! 😈 Not really in the mood for styrene bashing atmo! 🥸

Update.. following the ruminations in the post above, I've shelved the 4 styrene Destroyers (G class, I class, L class and O class) and have added 4 more resinacious vessels to the two already on the slipways.. the 4 ships involved are White Ensign's S class HMS Scorpion, Niko's Fantastique class le Terrible, Combrig's Tashkent and Niko's USS Reuben James
The styrene ships will replace the resin jobs on the slipways as soon as the resin ships are dun ! 😎
Pics of all on the ways beside the B class and D class on the morrow, when there's something better than bare resin to see (it'll be painted resin by the time the photos are dun ! 🥸)
Til then Adieu and best regards OB of knowing wot I'm up to is half the battle 😉 (Not changing my mind again is the other half !) 😈

Plans (mine anyway) are subject to change ! 🤯😝
Speaking of which no paint run til Friday (day after tomorrow out here) -My Chauffer has rather inconsiderately booked his car in for service and is thus carless on the morrow 🤬 The Supervisor is working all week, so she's out too - muttermuttermutter ! 😖
Checking the paint stash, I MIGHT just be able to come up with summat post war that needs a tad of finishing and for which, suitable paint is in stock... hmmm ? Not really feeling like modern floatys at present (MT Miniatures type 12.,14 and 4 differently armed Leander class Frigates in 700th), so I might kill that idea and just git on with other things instead. 🤔
I can only go ships , That's why I utterly deliberately voided my (way too big !),stash of any and all other genres and scales of kits (yup the 35th Tanks have gone too) - That plan worked but I wasn't anticipating a paint shortsge this quick ! Oh well, live and learn - no biggy, I'll probably just put my feet up for another day ! 😎
Regards OB of lazing about, listening to the rain falling 😉

Found some old Humbrol enamels in the bottom of a box last night, thought I'd chucked the Humbrols prior to moving, most of em were dried out anyway... These proved to be still viable, with a tad of stirring/shaking/swearing and added thinners...so... Top to bottom : Wem HMS Scorpion has her hull sides painted and drying Combrig's USSR Navy Tashkent has Hull sides painted and drying Niko's FN le Terrible has hull (and other bits) sides painted and drying All the above are 700th Resin critters, might take awhile for the paint to dry actually, its raining rather heavily hereabouts at present... (Persisting Pick handles !) Regards OB of hiding under a brolly 😉 ☔️

Its supposed to be raining heavily out here til Wednesday next week ! 😖
That old fella with the long white beard and the big boat full of animals just went by for the third time, he was asking if anybody knew where "the mountain called Ararat" had got to...🤔
Nobody had the heart to tell him it floated past yesterday and was blown out to sea by the wind and ocean currents...😖
Best OB of I said nowt, didn't see it go by, I must have been inside at my desk 😉

As long as his rod holds up I guess 😳
Been meaning to switch back to enamels for ships anyway, tend to brush everything on ships and enamels make for better primers on resin anyway. Ordered a "rescue pack" of enamels from BNA this morning, just got an email to say its shipped - may get it tomorrow, otherwise Monday. Hit the web site of the LHS we were going to visit on the morrow - they're out of most colours in their paint ranges. No point in travelling 100km (round trip) if there's nothing to see but empty paint racks. Staying home and dry instead 😗🎵🎶
Sounds like a good cue for putting in some good time at the desk.😎
Regards OB of thinking I like that idea 😉

Hi folks
Moving along slowly, given the time it takes enamel paint to dry...😖
Top to bottom WEM's HMS Scorpion has had nuthin' dun on her, unsure if her maindeck should be finished in a non- skid surface like corticene (brick red), or semtex (a greeny-greyish colour), or just left in dark grey (natural metal), at the time period I'm modelling her... research continues ! 🧐
Middle, Combrig's Russki Navy Destroyer Tashkent has had her fore superstructure and stack added, construction of superstructure continues slowly at present 😗🎵🎶
Bottom Niko Resin's French Navy Heavy Destroyer le Terrible has its full superstructure and stacks added, needs turrets and guns, Torpedo tubes etc and of course its masts, rigging and "brass complications" to complete - shouldnt't take long..😈🥸
Work resumes on all in 2 days, the V8's are on this weekend, so I'm in front of the tube both days ! 😎
Regards OB of making haste slowly 😉

How do you do non skid surface in 1/700 scale??

Hi Bruce
Well, seeing as 700th is so small and both Corticene and Semtex were like concrete in texture, I just paint it with a flat paint and when dry, hit it with a fairly heavy coat of flat varnish at the end of the paint phase, to ensure it stays flat finished against the slight satin sheen of the all over flat coat I usually put over the finished article
In 700th, its a case of if in doubt - cheat ! 😆
Regards OB of unafraid to cheat slightly 😉
