Hope yall are enjoying time with family and friends and having a great holiday season.
At last I was able to finish this wall cabinet this afternoon, but the tung oils is still a bit tacky, especially in the shop with a average temp of 35-38*F. It will sit till this weekend when the old cabinet comes down and the wall get's painted, then up she goes. I was very pleased with the final result, just what the Boss requested, and she loves it! That's all that matters, right?
The holes go through the doors, which really adds to the rustic appearance we were after. Funny, most builders shun these pieces of hickory, but with our decorum, it fits in nicely.
Cheers, Ski.
P.S. The finger is healing well, but the splint protecting it can be a bit of a pain in the hinny!

Thanks Guys! I'm no pro cabinet builder, but UTube has been a major help, plus a few quality tools doesn't hurt, lol.

Fantastic work Steve. I to have been getting big into wood working as of late. As a matter of fact the next house we get will have a separate building for a wood working area with one corner of it my modeling area. That's if I don't get banished to the Cellar again LOL!!

You shouldn't be banished, you are doing what she wants by building that stash so you need room, hint, hint!!!

Thanks Jed!
Hey Rich, just remember, it's cheaper to learn on someone else's material, HA! Yes, a shop is a must if you're going to make a lot of saw dust. But, make sure you get bunker time too, my Boss is already lining up next years wood butcher bill, and I ain't too happy. I'm suppose to be "sniffin paint and gluin my fingers together"!

There comes a time when you tell the boss no, its your turn... I had to learn that a while back... got both her sewing craft rooms done, the bathroom, laundry, living and dining room done and told her it was time for my model room... no more projects until mine is done... she agreed that was more then fair!

You know me Joe, I won't be able to relax and paint if I have stuff on the back burner. However, I will be sniffin paint next fall, regardless of any lingering projects, my mind is made up. I'll letcha know how that works out, HA!
Besides, the average temp in the shop is 43-55*, on a good day! Second cabinet is on the bench, a big pantry beast, pics soon.

Well, it ain't gonna get done lookin at it, lol.
After I get rolling I really don't notice the temp unless my fingers start to ache, then I just crank on the space heater, warm up and back to work. T'sall good.

I'd be in my shop doing the same if it wasn't for this dang cold, can't woodwork when ya can't breathe clearly... facemasks and lack of breathing don't work well...

At least you guys got woodshops. I have a stable to build for my mother's Nativity set and I have no shop to build it in.
Ski, just sneak on into the Hobby Room a few times between wood projects to keep in practice on plastic. You'll get there.

I did plenty of building on my sidewalk in the past when I didn't have a shop Mark!!! Make due is my motto, if there is a will there is a way!!!

Still, you have a house; I'm in a second story condo with my front door on a balcony with stairs leading down. There is no sidewalk or driveway available to work on. No room to build on that balcony and it's not allowed by condo association rules even if there was. My tools are all in a storage area, no way to build in that too. I had run a cable to the carport below to work out of the back of my truck, but I got in trouble there too since stuff like that is not allowed in carports. I don't know how else to make do Joe.
Enjoy your shop.

When I first started was in a trailer park that didn't exactly like it... then built a small 8x10 shed I worked out of for years... Mark ask your church if you can work there? Possibly a patio area? Men's ministries in our area do things like that all the time... if you lived closer I would gladly let you use my shop!!!

Already considered and explored. Unfortunately, despite having a couple men's groups, there's no facilities or patios where that kind of wood working can be done. Only one church allowed me to build on their patio; and that was because I was building them a manger for their use to hold a baby Jesus for a Christmas pageant. Other than that, it isn't allowed.
Thanks for the suggestion. God will provide someday.
