Jcon I am doing OK then. New part built and installed. Steve Thank you kindly my good man. I have done the HS technique, but only on small parts prior to this. Jeff Thank you buddy. Armorguy Thank you kindly for the compliment. Jed Thank you very much. Not a lot of time at the bench this week. The kids are home for spring break, and a lot of shifts to work this week. I was able, however to sneak some time in. One bank of road wheels are mounted, and the weathering has been started on them. There has also been some weathering started on the lower hull. There's a gap in the track, as I needed to check to see if I need 4 or 5 more links. I gave the back end and some other areas a dusting of Vallejo Concrete for.....well....dust. The barrel got some weathering. Not much as it was a recent replacement. Sorry for the blurry pics. These were done in a bit of a rush.

Jcon Thank you brother. Dukemaddog Thank you good sir. I'll take whatever I can get in terms of progress. Keith Thank you as always for you support my good man. Bruce Thank you good buddy. Well....this has been a weird and very expensive week for this household. I had all of these great plans to get stuff done around the house, and maybe even some bench time. "No plan survives first contact with the enemy -Helmuth von Moltke I left work earlier this week as my son was having weird neuro symptoms, and is in school out of town. I spent almost 3 days out of town checking up on him. His symptoms resolved. What is was is a damned good question. When I got home the dishwasher broke down, and the scanner stopped working (the current OS no longer supports it). The washer should be here next week. The new scanner/printer is in a box downstairs. I'm just glad the boy is doing better and I get to sleep in my own bed. My motel "neighbors" got trashed the two nights I stayed there. Fortunately they passed out around midnight thirty each night. I was able to squeeze some bench time in today. The main push was to get the tracks painted, weathered, and mounted. Mission accomplished. I painted them with Vallejo Track Primer and weathered them with a slurry of Mig Gulf Sand Pigment. After the slurry dried, I took a stiff brush to the tracks and took off the excess pigment. For the metallic high lights and wear on the inside of the tracks, I used a graphite stick and a smudge stick.
Left hand track mounted. Those brackets on the aft end? Spare track hangers. A profile shot. We have all tracks mounted. Exhaust sooting. Heavily thinned flat black cut with grey shot at a low PSI. The week wasn't all bad. My wife got me a belated Xmas gift.....A WnW Felixstowe kit. It's MASSIVE!!!!!

Sorry to hear about all your troubles! They do pile up, at times! The tracks are absolutely beautiful!! What kind of camera do you use, and how do you get such incredible close up shots? Thanks for the teaser on the Felixstowe. Ya know we wanna see it built!!!

I'm glad to hear the issues got resolved okay. I'm throwing a flag on the play: no fair shooting pics of the Bovington Tiger's tracks and calling them your work! LOL! Seriously though, those are some incredibly realistic looking tracks my friend! Exhaust staining looks incredible too. Keep up the great work man!

Keith Thank you kindly for the sentiment. I look at it like this: I am a dad and this goes with the territory; I have the financial means to take care of the broken/non functioning stuff (for that I am grateful). The camera I use is a 10-12 year old Canon PowerShot A640. I have been very pleased with how it shoots the close up shots. Thank you for the compliment and your support my good man. I am right now looking at the box of the Felixstowe....thinking, "Oh what have I gotten into now?" It will be the biggest kit I have ever built. The wing span will be about 36 inches.....then there's the rigging. I may have to put in an order for a lot more EZ Line. Jcon Thank you brother for the compliment. I am looking forward to building it. Not sure where I'm going to put it as it will not fit in any display case I have. Looks like a custom display may be in order. Armorguy Thank you brother. Jeff Thank you kindly my good man. Cliffj Thank you very much my good man. The tracks were really quite simple. Only three ingredients (not including the track): Paint, pigment mixed is water, and a graphite stick. Dukemaddog As am I my good man, and that I had the financial means to take care of it. Flag on the play...... That cracked me up. Thank you for that laugh. As much as I would like to say I've got a ton of pics of the Bovington Tiger, I have never seen it in person. A bucket list thing for me. The finishing of the tracks was really a simple means. There was nothing complex or esoteric about finishing them. The brushing off of the excess pigment lends to the dusty appearance of them. The imperfections of the casting of the track cleats lends to the "pitted" appearance of the cleat faces...that was creation by mistake, NOT on my part. I am just simply having fun with this build. Thank you my friend for your support and compliments. I have some Mission Models paint that should arrive today. I picked out a few colors, a couple for the interior of a Takom King tiger that is calling out from the stash. I've heard good things about their paint and that it lends well to chipping with the hair spray technique. So, I thought I've give them a try.
