Well it has been a while hasnt it....... Been so focused on the Spitfire I finally decided I needed a change of scenery. 1/32 Trumpeter F4U-1D. This will also be a cut away but I now have an issue. I need to build my references. For now I have begun on the engine. Lets see how she goes. Here we go. Joe

Thanks all. Now for the business at hand. A short update on the 1/32 Trumpeter F4U-1D. Much of my build time has been spent trying to get the structures ready. The kit has zero detail for a firewall. There is minimal in the cockpit, much of it wrong. As with a majority of kits there is nothing to the rear past the cockpit. Referring to photos from a Google search as well as photos the folks at the Igor I. Sikorsky Memorial Airport and the Vought Museum have allowed me to save, work progressed slowly. The engine and bay detail will have to be scratched. First up is to fashion an engine mount, no picture, sorry. This is to allow me to position the engine and other detail. Detail work has also begun on detailing the engine. Also playing with where to make the cuts. Please, all comments, critiques, and criticism are requested. Joe

Thank you all. Bruce yes and no. I will draw out the structure at times. Sometimes I will cut something at the right size to make sure stringers or frames are the right distance.
Now for a bit of an update.

Just a short update. This again is the 1/32 Trumpeter F4U-1D. Progress to show. Spent some time roughing in the exhausts. Still much cleanup to do. The toughest part was trying to mock it all up. I also did more to the engine mount. More to do there as well. All comments, critiques, and criticism are requested. Joe
