More little bits. It's hard to see, but the commander's MG and spotlight is now wired.  IMG_3064 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Below, added bits to the armor bracket.  IMG_3065 by Russel Baer, on Flickr And last, the tow cables in. They're attached to the side armor only, with the cable end just slid into the rear bracket. I'm starting to run out of stuff to do, other than things that require too much disassembly to go back and correct. Rear turret bin covers are on, front in progress, front armor corrected (Tamiya supplied the upper piece with the cutouts for a dozer blade, not correct for mine) headlights wired, mirror mounts on, various other small bits here and there also added. Thanks Steve! I noticed the presence of two "fish plates" under the headlights in one of my reference pics, but I think I'll pass on that, too much to remove to add them now.

Color? Oh yeah.... I guess I need to start painting my models too.  When this one is ready to paint, it'll join three others. Apparently I'd rather build than paint. This one will be dark green with some black over it, from pics of the real things in Kosovo, around 1999-2000. I think I'll keep the mud to a minimum, maybe just apply a light dusting. |

Green!  IMG_3234 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Second color will be black, and because the real things had both factory and field applied black, hard and soft edged. I'm in business. I'll used Vallejo acrylic over the Rustoleum camo green, perfect. Light dust will both brighten it and tint the colors. And since I want to show the extra work, no mud and light weathering. |

Decals made it yesterday, so as soon as the second Challenger is ready for paint, it will be time to clear off the bench and get all this stuff moving again, this one, the Leo2, the AMX and the M60 dozer. I'll be painting for a while. I promise myself, no new kits started until everything is painted and weathered.

Yeah, I'm saying the same thing, only for shelf queens; although I'm making an exception for all my Russian armor since I have so many boxes and they are taking space. Your Challenger sure looks awesome in paint! I really love the mesh baskets you did, stunning work!

In the meantime, I found a can of Tamiya TS-78 spray in the paint stash. Bingo, my modern UK "green" is on, very lightly shot over the dark green on upper and side surfaces.
