Hi Folks...
This is more or less the final trackplan -(no layout name as yet, not asking for suggestions either, with all due respect) đ¤. I'm still finalising positions of points, platforms and other railway infrastructure as yet... Its not a shunting (switching) layout, although a bit of that activity will be indulged in as required. đ
Final tweaks etc; and start of wiring happens tomorrow, control will be straight 12v DC (analogue/traditional power), via my own handbuilt controllers, which have worked faultlessly for over 30 years since I built them all those years ago. If it works, why change or mess with it, much less replace it wholesale (I have yet to find a DCC controller that's under $100Aud or that will keep on going after its been accidentally dropped to the floor under exhibition conditions) đ My handbuilt jobs never miss a beat during such accidents ! đđĩđļđ

Sorry Folks - its "All Change" time đ˛ - better to do that now, before any track gets pinned down... đ¤¯đ
This is a new start in railways for moi, so I'm not going back over old ground, as I would have been doing, had I proceeded with the track plan pictured above... đđ
Here's what I'll be proceeding with, a former passenger terminus which had the passenger service withdrawn in the early 1950's, and is in my chosen period (1980-91), kept alive by freight alone, as a lot of smaller branch lines were.
More later regards the whys and wherefores, rhymes and reasons etc; for proceeding as such (ie, after I figger it out and make it sound convincing enough ! đđđĩđļ

Changing as you go along is never a bad thing. Waiting until the nails, or glue have set, is quite problematic! BTW...is that a hurricane machine in the far corner? That off-white thing sitting there? JK, OB!!

It coitainly is Bucky ! đ
Its set on position 1 (Mild Zephyr), although in summer heatwaves it goes to position 2 (storm front coming) afaik, its never gone to position 3 (Toto we ain't in Kansas anymore) for various odd reasons, related to keeping the roof, interior walls and windows intact ! đ
Mind you, its directly opposite a manual air regulation device (aka the backroom window), which it lives in front of in the summer and when the neighbours are putting either fresh manure or blood and bone fertiliser on their gardens, can mean the 'orrible pongs from the items mentioned get blown right through the flat rather quickly. đđ¤đ¤Ŧ Not nice, although I may not notice if my tummy's been playing up đđ¤¯đ¤Ģ
Regards OB of no tummy mishaps for a while now đ

Great looking layout so far. I like the new idea. Like Bruce, I wish I could set one of those up.

Hi Folks !
Joe - 'Tis a very good thing indeed ! đđ¨đ¤
Bruce and Duke - this one is 12feet by 2 feet down the wall, its running along the top of a counter, then a couple of book cases (shelves removed), which allowed me to pile most of my unbuilt collection of over 100 35th kits in (kits are long gone - sold off on ebay for a handsome profit) - Bookcases were deliberately built (by me) to match the height of the counter (malice very much aforethought ! đ)
The rest will be easy, about to detop those first two boards and gleefully remove large chunks of the tops (carefully, they're going back on at a lower level) and halve the height of the sides and crossmembers - lots of fun with my jigsaw and other hacking implements today đđ
What am I doing ? Just wait and see - pics after the hacking is done ! đđđĩđļ

Hi Folks
Joe Nope, none of dat stuff (its drops of 1 3/4 ins all round)
Bucky Keep watching and it'll jump on a horse and go thundering off into the sunset !
Pics tomorrow, only got half of it dun, had to bodge in ad hoc style severely, owing to a plan that wasn't going to work (luckily realised before mangling started, hence only half the job being accomplished ! đ˛ đ¤¯đ¤Ŧđ¤

Uh-Oh.... Err.. Bucky ol' chap. is there errrr... đ¤ Should I feel nervous/threatened by your response ? đĨē
In that case, I've made an "executive derision" that what I've dun is sufficiant for purpose đđĩđļ
Here ya go... ('ang on, slight delay, forgot to take the photo !) đ¤Ģđđ
Pier/Quay/Wharf anyone ? đ
Across the baseboard gaps, we have three pcb sleepers, to which the tracks are soldered, means they stay aligned when the layout is disassembled for transport - if I ever have to move from here âšī¸. Soldering dun before tracks cut across board gap.. Dunno wot happened with the line in the foreground, no matter, easily put right ! đ¤đđ
Next stop wiring the beast and playing trains errr... testing the track ! đ
Regards OB of I know wot I'm doing (I think !) đ
