Thank you Duke and Bucky, appreciate it. I'll tell ya Bucky, if I had access to the manual machines at the company I work for now, I'd whip up one of those LFH's for ya. One of the quirks of the company I work for is they allow people to have their own little domains.....So while I do prototype and development parts for aerospace and other applications, I can't get a 1/2 hour of time on machines I learned to run 35 years ago in high school......go figure

Typical company... Yeah, but I can't say much, they were very, very good to me when I was sick a couple months ago.....and more importantly to my wife.... Plus, I love what I do.

At least you are working and working for a caring company, even if they have no sense of humor. That is a blessing all on it's own.

Got most everything stuck together that I can...…. Started painting some of the smaller details like the rescue buoy and the white areas around the deck hatches. The kit provides white circle decals but from past experience, I know that they pretty much suck, so I painted and masked the white areas. Have the base finished up and the attachments added to the hull that go into the brass tubes in the base. Just checking to make sure everything matches up More painting to come, getting there

Ok, so an update on the Kilo, the lower hull was sprayed with True North Paint Hull Red, and then masked off and the lower Sonar dome painted with Gunze light grey. When that was dry the entire lower hull masked. The details and panel lines on the upper hull were sprayed with Tamiya semi-gloss black and then everything else filled in with Vallejo NATO Black. Photos showed that the deck was covered what appears to be vulcanized rubber sound deadening mats. The black paint appeared to wear off the high traffic areas, so to replicate this I sprayed Testors Rubber from the small square bottle over those areas. Everything was glossed and the decals were applied. I only used the 4 draught markings from the kit. While not totally correct I did not have any other alternatives. I used spare decals for the windows on the sail. First a white square was placed, and then a slightly smaller blue square was placed over it leaving a small white frame that simulated what is seen in photos. Some subs have this, some do not. Pieces of red and green decals were also used for the position lights on the sides of the sail. The aerials on top of the sail were all either scratch built, or modified from the kit parts. While I do not claim that the aerial fit is 100% accurate it is a fair representation of a typical aerial fit for the sub. And some quick photos on the work bench, I need to take some better ones when I get a chance.
