I though that I would start this thread as a place to put some of my builds. While not as such a prolific builder as Mark ( and most others), I do however usually have a build going in the background aside from what ever else I might be working on. I also have a fair number of kits that are started, either by me, or acquired that way, and many other bagged kits that make it hard to do decent WIP threads on them as some of the work has not been documented, or there is no box, decals (in some cases), etc. So, in an attempt to finish some of these "misfit" kits, I will build them here!

Ernie, welcome to the Industrial Park of OSM! Feel free to build your manufacturing facilities on whatever site you like and by all means, keep those constructions projects going! I'll be looking forward to stopping in frequently here to see how you're doing on everything. You'll be surprised at how motivating it can be seeing all your work in one long thread, along with all the stimulating comments left by others.

Thanks Duke, I have my little corner all picked out and almost ready to go. Just some final housekeeping details and permits for oversized loads and low flying aircraft, not to mention the rail spur and space dock, and we should be all set. Please do feel free to stop in any time, I enjoy the company and the encouragement helps too.

Hi Ernie, Mike here from Blue Fish Auto Magic. I would also like to welcome you to the Industrial Park of OSM. I do not build a lot of models, but I always have more than one in the works. I will stop by often to see what you are working on. You are welcome to stop by Blue Fish Auto Magic to see what I am working on. Have fun!

Hmm, space dock... I forgot to build one of those in my complex. LOL! With me building more rockets, I think I need one! Thanks for the reminder.
Looking forward to opening day my friend, I'll get started helping with those permits....

Ok, so we are ready for the grand opening of my corner! The first order of business I guess is a little tour. Now, not everything is where it should be or where it will ultimately end up, but we must get building so it is good enough for the moment. The main work area Under the bench, compressor and kit storage Paint storage racks on the wall at the end of the bench Shelves to the left of the paint racks....the kits on these shelves are a combination of new un-started and started kits that need to be finished. Under the shelves and to the left is book shelf, the top still needs to be straightened up, have to find a better way to store my decal sheets, that will help a lot. To the right of the desk is this storage cabinet that holds extra paints, thinners, general supplies, etc, and on top a stack of mostly started kits that need to be finished. A lot of those kits I started over the time I get home from the hospital and went back to work several weeks later. I needed something to do, but did not have the attention span or energy to get too deep into stuff, so I just glued as many parts together as I could until I need to paint and then put it away and grabbed another one...…. So, anyway this is my production area, total space is about 6 X 8 feet. so it is a nice cozy little area to work in. Just about anything is apt to cross the bench, which if fine as that keeps things interesting. Hope you enjoyed the little tour

Nice area, makes me jealous Thank you jed! It does the trick, but it is still a work in progress as I am trying to make it more efficient and more organized. I am a paint junkie, and there in lies one of the biggest problems...….trying to get the paint organized so I can keep track of it.

What a fantastic work area! I envy you the space to set something like this up. One idea for storing your decals that a friend of mine uses: get a 3-ring binder and some plastic clear page protectors that go in one; put your decals into each protector and then keep them all in the binder. They'll fit on your bookcase nicely and be accessible just by pulling the binder down and looking through it like a book.
Also, is that a Space 1999 Hawk you have sitting partially assembled? I just got one myself and was looking to get it built. Maybe you can resurrect yours and we can build it together.
Congrats once again on your Grand Opening!

Thank you Duke! The tip on the binder is a good one......the problem is I am in need of another one, the one I have is over stuffed and I have extra decals stacked up, plus a large storage box with decals in it that at some point should be organized into a binder as well. What I would really like to find is the type of binders automotive parts stores used to have back in the day. These were several inches thick, and instead of the rings, had 3 rods where the holes in the catalogs were located, and the top was screwed onto the rods. Very sturdy and secure, and always opened flat and closed perfectly square as well. If I could get a couple of those I would be a seriously happy camper! Yes, that is a Space 1999 Hawk! when you're ready we can build them together... although a fair bit of mine is together (it builds pretty quick), I stopped to try to figure out the painting sequence, if you are doing the version with the orange areas as it appeared n TV, it will take some fancy masking. The overall white one is looking pretty attractive.... But any time you want to go for it I'm in. I don't think I took many (or any) pictures of the work done on it so far so you could document that on yours.

Nice area sir, I took keep lots of extra parts and just this week put a tip in on how to use plastic containers for separating and putting in a drawer for easy finding when needed... it's down towards the bottom of our forum under tips... onlinescalemodelers.proboards.com/thread/2572/storage-ideas

Yeah, I saw your tip the other day. I have some smaller containers with snap tops on them to hold extra parts and to separate parts from a kit that need painting etc. They are very handy!

So, this is what I have going on right now. I started this a while back, and need to get it finished; it has a big box that takes up valuable real estate and plus I already made the display base for it! From past experience, which didn't turn out so well, by the way, I learned that the two lower halves of the hull should be braced well before adding the one piece top hull..... I used sections of sprue that hull parts were attached to for this... It took a while to get the hull sections together while minimizing the seams as much as possible. I finally got it together in pretty good shape. A little putty and sanding of the seams was needed to make them ship shape.

Oh yeah I meant to say you should clear some space around your compressor under that desk so it doesn't overheat and not be a fire hazard and it would last a lot longer...

You're right, I probably should, I will have to build some to make room for those some where else I'll have to look at what other storage options I have...….

Ernie, I'll probably be starting my Hawk in a week or two, I'll let you know when it gets started. And yeah, I'd love to do the orange version like the TV show. There's gonna be a lot of sub-assemblies for this I recon.
Looking forward to seeing more on here. Nice bracing work on that sub!
