Very much so I can live wth no challenge 72nd aircraft, you get to a stage when you've assembled so many of the things that there's nothing hard at all about them. That's where the larger scales come in, way more precision required and little fudges that would work in 72nd don't work at all in the bigger scales, they show as a barely covered glitch, which is exactly what they are. (Mein Gott page 5 already ?) 😳
I'm still addicted to the little blighters too - dammit ! 😈🤯

New Desk works fine
Eduard Spitfire VIII cockpit underway - enlarged photo, the item concerned is under 2cm long....🤓 Luckily my old bifocals still work !
Why the Spitfire ? Gotta give the upcoming 109's something to chase ! 🫨
(109 build looks like 2x ICM 109 E's to use up some of the leftover decals from the Eduard jobby recently completed in these parts), a lovely old Revell 109 G-10, an Academy 109 G-14 and an AZ Models 109 H (Hohenjager) ...After that I might see about some FW190 Shortnose jobs.. we shall see...

Well, it looks a bit more like a Spitfire now...😎
Wings are on, as is the two piece top cowling and the pesky lil forward upper wing fillets...😈
Bit more to go yet before she's airframe complete and ready for paint..🥱

Ye ol' pointy wings instead of the squared off ones...

Bog standard Spitfire wingtips actally, not the long tips that might denote a Spitfire HF model, nor the clipwing tips that may point at an LF model, these are just the standard Spitfire wingtips..
More dun on it now, including fitting the tailwheel doors (Spitfire VIII were supposed to have retractable tailwheels, plus doors on their tail gear bay, but many were issued with fixed tailwheels and no doors. Lots of VIII's were fitted with the taller rudders too, but just as many weren't... The VIII was designed around the Griffon engine (supposed to have been the first Griffon powered Spitfire, but problems with the Griffon's development meant the XII was the first Griffon Spitfire (around 250 produced), with the XIV being the first Griffon Spitfire to see service in any real numbers. What made a VIII a VIII is on the RH side of the cowling at the nose, most manufacturers mould it in place in 72nd (Eduard are no exception to that rule, Hasegawa make you glue it in position (microscopic lil thing it is). (Spitfire Nerd Mode =OFF) 🤓🙄
Anyhoo, here's where its at for the moment 🥱
Its looking a fair bit unmistakeably like a Spitfire now methinks !😎

Probably
I'm taking a couple of days off, need to revamp the factory slightly (nothing drastic) and rest my sore eyes. Its looking like the promised Mess of Schmitts will happen but they could very well be the last 72nds from here in some time. Getting together with my lat mate's sons tonight (need some time off to make the place look presentable too ! ) With their co-operation, the answer should be forthcoming and agreeable to all. Saying nothing on that til tomorrow (can't cos I dunno how things will happen) but watch for a news flash from hereabouts on the morrow.

It went very well..Nice to see and catch up with old friends 😚
Spitfire wll be the last 72nd I do for the moment (unless I decide to return to the Tomcat)... My eyes are screaming at me every time I look at the poor lil thing 😈
The Mess of Schmitts will happen in a couple of months, as will a Mass of Mustangs, a Flock of FW's, a Horde of Hurricanes, a Tangle of T-Bolts and (last but deffo not least), a positive Slew of Spitfires.😎
In the meantime, til my eyes feel like letting me get at/into those kits, I'll keep ya posted on what I decide to do... I've got the 72nd Spitfire to the paint stage today, it only needed its gear legs and cannon barrels, so they went on at about 8am. (we're going to be hitting 33c out here today, with high humidiy, so that merely thinking will bring on the sweaty stuff, besides which, its Sunday, so I'm staying off the desk for the rest of the day.
Think its the "teeny leetle beets" in these Eduard kits that are trying my eyes, so I'll be avoiding them wherever/whenever possible (4 part wheels on a 72nd Spitfire ? Eeeeegad sir !) Best M of WW (and sore eyes) 😉🙃
