Noticed this as I was checking in. Over the past two years have not been active. Lots going on; we took care of my mother who had Alsheimer's until she passed away in Oct. of '21. Took care of the estate, brough her house up to code with electrical and plumbing upgrades, city water, spruce everything up and turned it into a rental property, new tenants moved in Aug. 1st 0f '22. Great, that is done! September turned 56, out lived my father who died of a heart attack at 55, that monkey is off my back, 12 days later on Sept. 19th driving to work, yep.....have a heart attack. Spent 3 1/2 days in the hospital, got a single stent put in and 4 days later fly to Florida to meet daughter, son in law and grandsons at Disney, perfect. That was also the week hurricane Ian hit Florida. not so perfect, but still had a great time. Couple of other little things as well along the way, but all good. Have completed one model in all that time, last January. Have stuck parts together on other stuff and followed other builds here and there, but just had no real time, desire, or ability to participate in any meaningful way. Lately though that has been changing so perhaps I can get into a more consistent pattern of building and posting builds.

Glad you're back Ernie. We're dealing with my wife's mum who has Alzheimer's and dementia so I know the problems you faced. Nice to see you back and you too Robbo!

Ernie, I'm sorry you had so many issues, but I'm thrilled you are alive and were able to see family. You have been missed and I'm hoping to see more of your work here.
Robbo, great to see you as well. I love the red background on your avatar!

Glad to have you check in, Robbo! Looking forward to seeing what you've been up to. Hang in there, Ernie. Catch up with us when you have a spare minute. I haven't been able to finish anything in quite a while myself, due to a few "real life" items popping up over the past three years! Hopefully soon, I can get back to it. Been working a little bit on the Boss Nova wagon lately.

It’s been a hectic 3 years here. When the pandemic started I was sent home to work for 2 years but my workload doubled. During that time we were remodeling our current house.
Then, I took a different position at the university and my work doubled AGAIN! Finally, 18 months ago I took a new job where my workload is better but I am away from home for 11 hours a day (including the drive time).
I’d that wasn’t enough, we h expectedly bought a house (long story there) and for the last 9 months have been remodeling to move into that one (just next door). Prayerfully we can move in June but then we have to finish updating our current home to rent it out.
At our new house we have a lot more space so I finally have a dedicated home office with enough room for the models. We also have a 24x40 pole barn of which half will be my man cave (woodworking shop, hobby room, etc)

Sometimes it is. It's just been physically and mentally draining. Sara and I are both ready for phase 1 (fixing and renovating the existing structure) so that we can move in and let our contractor do phase 2 (adding on 360 for a new master suite and a 30x24 attached 2-car garage).
Perhaps by the end of the year, I can come home and spend some time every week building models.

I've noticed there are people looking at my blogs just not commenting, shows that some are there in the background shame they don't come forward

Yes, I see a lot of that too. Kinda makes me feel like 'what's the use?' especially when I do state that comments are welcome. It would be nice to know people like what they see; on other Fora I frequent, I will get four to ten comments; and not just the curt 'good job' or words to that effect. This four to ten comments so keep me motivated to keep building and finishing models; sometimes they are a tonic that lifts me when I feel like it just isn't worth continuing....

I don't need the comments to keep building, I would do that anyway as it is enjoyable to me... but if I am the only one enjoying it on a forum why waste my time posting pics and writing on a site... I have hundreds of followers on Farcebook sites that comment and ask questions! That grows our hobby and leads to friendships!

I will raise my hand and admit I am one of those lurkers mentioned. I do belong to a few other sites and have posted comments from time to time. My apprehension to doing more is the fact that although I have many models "in progress"(mainly autos, but a couple of planes in 1/144), I do not have anything that I think is post=able. I have many items in various stages of completion, and need to find the time to finish them (and the weather - being in the frozen north means the evenings are not warm enough yet to paint in the garage).
I am adhering to an internal mantra of not commenting on another's build unless I can share something from my bench. I hope that will change with the a final set-up in my new house, and carve out minutes/hours from full-time work. PLease do not tak at least my absence of commenting as a lack of interest in your builds. Many are excellent, and I love the variety of subjects that are being shown on this forum.
Regards,
Richard

Thanks Richard, just write something in a generic thread once in a while to let us know you are around! Finished projects aren't needed to keep in touch!!!
