Errr... The 38(t) is dun and, bar for a leetle bitta sanding, is in the paint queueπ²
Dunno how that happened and I do apologise for the speed, it wasn't planned that way - honest ! π€«
Will get on with the Stug this arvo and see how close to finishing it I can get, (without rushing/ruining the thing of course !) π€
Next on the queue is another Takom Stug (no winter tracks this time) and a new-ish British one from Tamiya

The StuG won't be that quick, not that it has any assembly problems, (its proved to be viceless thus far), I'm taking my time with it, to make sure it stays that way... π₯±
Its now fully tracked, and next stop is whatever the destructions tell me to do..π€
That's for tomorrow, taking the day off today, dun enough glue fume inhalstions for the moment π΅βπ«

Not too bad at any rate... meantime, after taking the day off, I started working on a little something this evening.. NOT the StuG either... π Here's a hint below...
Thus far, its a lovely kit, with Tamiya's usual drama free assembly...Its at the same stage as the StuG now...π₯±
Back onto the StuG in the morning...π€

Its a pretty solid kit too ! π
Back on the StuG, spent a pleasant enough 3 hours adding hull top details, well most of 'em.. there's a couple of etched screens to go over the engine intakes and a couple of little greeblies that can only be added after the screens are fitted. I'm going to paint the inside of the intakes before I add the screens to them. I've also left a couple of spare wheel mounts off down the back, for no reason in particular, I'll git to them. Tow cables are loose til I get the superstructure glued down, its just sitting in position at present. π€«π₯±
Back after lunch with more on the Comet...
Til then adieu mes amis

Yeah bossman ! π
Comet's hull is about dun, all bits to be added have been added, needs a couple of bits down the back, need to hit the books about a couple of them, that's for tonight, after me dinner... π
One little wrinkle to be dealt with, the tow cable on the front of the tank is in six parts, all nicely and finely moulded , two bits for the cable itself and four towing eyes, don't rush it, that's asking for disaster, take your time and follow the instructions implicitly to the letter and the result will look much nicer under paint. Its easy as long as you go slowly...π€π
Ok dinner time and apart from hitting the refs for some Comet guidance regards rear fittings, the quitting whistle has sounded. Tomorrow should see both vehicles finished and ready for the paint shop, barring disasters π²

Indeed it does, we'll see how it looks when painted, before making any decisions though π
Meanwhile..
Just needs the internals of the intakes painted, the intake grilles and a couple of bits added, perhaps a tad of stowage down the back and she's in the paint queue...π₯±
Onto the Comet's turret this arvo, but dinnertime awaits. π

That turned out to be an easy assembly job...π₯±
Comet now has its turret, just a few ikkel bits to be added to get it across the line..
That's a job for tonight, after I have me tea.. and a coffee and a burp (or two). π³

So here's the fun for today - a paint and decal fest, paint this morning, decals this afternoon for 3 ofthem (one won't get its decals today, for a reason to be explained later) .. π₯±
L to R - Tamiya Jumbo Sherman, Takom StuG III G mit Winterketten, Tamiya PzKpfw 38(T) and the Tamiya A34 Comet lurking up the back... π€«
Stand by for a paint fume fest π΅βπ«

Sherman is now OD overall, 38(T) is now overall Panzer Grey, StuG is overall sand yellow, all need their roadwheel tyres and smaller details picked out with a hairy stick...π€
Comet is 3/4 painted in overall British Dk Green, unfortunately I ran out of paint before I got the hull top surfaces painted,ππ€¬π³ Ne'er mind, I can (hopefully), grab another bottle of Tamiya XF-61 from the LHS when I go shopping tomorrow π
Photos later, when I get the phone and ipad off the charger...π

Got some more paint yesterday, as planned π
Comet now has full paint coverage, nothing else has been touched, nor will anything be touched on the desk for the next couple of days. Its Bathurst time again, Supercars on the mountain - I'm in front of the TV all weekend.π΅βπ«
Normal programming resumes on this channel on Monday (3 days from now) hereabouts π

Will do/am so doing.. π
For my next trick, I'll continue with the StuG theme, with these two beauties
Takom job has no hope whatever of being finished as an "Ersatz M7", not when you can build it as a late production StuG III or StuH 42 (same thing with a 105mm howitzer instead of a 75mm gun). Its also the only StuG kit Takom have done thus far with the late "Topfblende" gun mantle in the kit ("Saukopf" seems to have been a post war name for the mantle, all wartime specs and nomenclature refer to that type of cast gun mantle as a Topfblende) .. π€
The Tamiya kit's been around for ages, and truth to tell, there ain't much wrong with it, despite its age. I'm going to build it as box, but I do reserve the right to replace any part of it with better from a more current kit, if such a replacement part is available in my many Panzer IV spares boxes. I do have a Dragon late StuG IV mit zimmerit kit in my stash, I didn't get Dragon's early StuG IV kit because I had this Tamiya job in the stash already. Anyhoo, that's the plan for the moment.
I'll possibly follow this pair with a pair of PzIv based Tank Destroyers (I have both Tamiya L-70 kits, the previously released V and the recently released A, plus a Dragon V mit zimmerit), we'll see about them once I get this pair done. π€π
I'll be starting these in a few days, going to get the decals on the four I painted recently, as detailed in this thread. π
