Hi Folks,
Not much been happening hereabouts, split the 4 ft return off the 15ft desk and made the 4 footer into the desk.
Got a couple of new tools for xmas
Not much good for modelling admittedly, but they will do for making display shelves etc;
Also got this new baby, which I've been playing to death lately, its been years since I had one like this, so it was about time I had another !
I did order a few kits too, but they don't start arriving til tomorrow, so I'll take a happy snap or two and chuck em in the direction of the relevant thread
Best Gomez (still twangin'away) 😉

Took the return off to put some better legs on it - its back now and sits slightly higher, so nicer to work at. 😎
The He-111 is till unfinished, got a tad lazy and suspended work on it, its not the first up this year, but it will get more dun on it on a gradual basis -as and when I feel like mucking about with 72nds.🤔
The rest of the structure now looks like this - 15ft x 2ft of display area, the shelves will be full by june-july this year and need to be cleared to make way for the construction efforts/output in the latter part of the year..
I'll be mainly building 35th tanks, expecting a delivery of Ebay AFV goodies shortly, just to beef the stash up a tad, after which I'll start working on something, will fill you lot in on precisely what when I decide. 😈

The shelves are seperate boxes, I do have an alternate location for them to go..
That gives me 15ft x 2ft to play with. Its enough for something I have in mind... 😈 I'll need two more at the same dinensions as the return (4ft x 2ft), which will come back off the return and parallel the 15 footer.
Only thunking in spare moments re that. 🤔

Next to be built will be the Grant..
Tamiya's oldy will do me, it looks like a Grant, I'm not that fussy re details, at least I won't have to worry re indy link tracks or other painfuls associated with the Takom or Miniart examples of the Species.
The shelves are headed to their alternate location and I've manufactured a new set of legs for the return, to bring it up to the height of the 15 footer

Well... After a round of server caused internet connectivity dramas and another bout of Glandular Fever, I'm almost fighting fit again and starting to do a few things....
I've extended the legs on the 15 foot x 2 foot display area (so certain small children (only fit for execution in the most painful and lingering style, a quick death being way too good for any of them ! ) The display area now sits 4 feet off the floor - by the time those lil bathplugs can see and reach what's on it, they should have learned NOT to touch anything they don't own (and that built kits are not toys and are easily broken irrepairably (several of my latest efforts will need to be replaced, the lil bathplugs !) Hopefully somebody will also teach those swine about respecting other people's property, especially little miss 13, who baldly stated that because my abode is in their grandma's backyard, they should be able to come in as they like and play with whatever they can see, if something gets broken, its my fault for leaving it where they can reach it... She got her backside belted for that one I can tell you (her grandma first, then her mother, after she'd been told of her lil daughter's theory) , from what I've heard, she's still eating her meals off the mantlepiece ! Couldn't have happened to a nicer person if you ask me.
Anyhoo, I've replaced all the locks at my own expense and they can't rattle the screen doors til the snibs drop to get in any more. Their Grandma doesn't allow them out in the back yard anymore either, which causes little b.. er master 8 to have teary screaming fits cos he can't play in my place anymore, the back door to grandma's house has a padlock and chain on the outside of it and I have the only key and have been absolutely forbidden by grandma from unlocking it if any of the kids are here (that's what the kids have been told.).. oh the joys of life eh ?
At present my desk is a tray on my lap of an evening, progress shots of the Grant will start tonight, I ain't done a thing on it yet !

Rolling right along....😎
The Grant's lower hull and running gear have come together nicely, no dramas, this is old Tamiya, so no such dramas were expected or encountered ! 🥱 Nb assembly inverted for drying out (and this photo !)
No its not on a tray on my (or anyone else's) lap, its on my newly assembled desk, chucked together this morning, after a quick thunk.🤔🤫

Nice progress so far. Glad to see you back at it after all those issues.
Did you move? I don't remember any other mention of small children before; are they related to you somehow? Wow, I am so out of touch!
At least I can see more of your work. Keep it coming and good luck on the repairs.

No, I've not moved, the little swine are the Landlady's grandkids. Landlady won't be allowing them around here anymore, unless they're with their mother, after the little excressences ran amok inside her place and trashed her china plate and wedgewood collections and did other nasty things to her posessions. that was the end of it as far as she went, the kids ain't welcome round here anymore. Those kids have never been slapped for their misdeeds, spare the rod and you'll soon see a glut of spoilt brats.
Moving along, The Grant's starting to look like a Grant now, still a fair way to go, but its getting there.

It was coming along nicely....😖🤔
All it needs now is a tad of final twitching and a quick blast of paint and she's dun. 🥱
Now looking thru my stash for another nice, old, 35th AFV kit to play with, don't feel like anything modern and complexity ridden at present, I'll get to a few of those in the cooler months ! 🤓

Not too bad at this stage anyway, the proof will be in the painting and weathering, Desert vehicles can be right boogers to weather convincingly. Let's see how it comes up from its visit to the paint shop....😖
I've found a couple of nice old Tamiya jobs to play with, I'm tossing up which one's going to be first. At present I'm favouring the Sherman "Jumbo" but I may decide the Marder auf Panzer II or the M-16 can be next - the M-16's decals are shot, so it may have to be finished in Israeli colours, that'll be interesting...🤔

We have paint...
Thus far, its an overall squirt of Tamiya XF- 59 Desert Yellow, next comes some hairy stick work, painting the roadwheel tyres and idlers black, before a quick blast of gloss clear, decals and a couple of blasts of thinned XF-59 with varying amounts of flat white to make it look played with hard, hopefully 'twill come up ok
