Indy links ain't a problem, its the "workable" track links give me the yips, each link is joined to the next by a little hinge pin each side of the link, you have to glue the edge of the pin head to the edge of the link such that the glue doesn't get into the link hinges and stop the links being articulated - why ? (or WTF, which seems more appropriate !π€―π€¬π©).. you glue the roadwheels to their axles as instructed, so the tracks won't move even if you're silly enough to want to push the thing along. The Dragon Hetzer has indy link tracks, no dramas with them (except trimming 4 sprue attachment points off each one of them). I don't like Fruis either !
Its not the Tamiya Marder I'm starting either (I'll start that next), its the Meng Panther A (late) - that lil booger's been hanging round in my stash way too long, I'm replacing its glue two guide teeth to each indy link before assembling the indy links into tracks - dumped those track sprues ages ago, going to use Bronco replacement tracks again, as I did on the Rye Field Panther F - for the same reason ! Bronco moulded each link with guide teeth integral in one hit, so its not as if its too hard for the likes of Meng or Rye Field - have a feeling I'd (or I'll) be doing that replacement trick with Takom Panthers as well.ππ€―π€¬

Indy track links! Ah, the joy of building 1/35 scale armor! I'm glad you have a solution for getting around that issue. Looking forward to seeing your next projects!

Indy Track links are NOT any problem to me, the workable ones are, I'm a modeller, not a toymaker, my tank tracks don't have to move or be moveable (and I'd bet that most of the bods who assemble them moveable load em up with liquid cement after they've put em on their models and arranged the track sag to their taste - to keep em looking sagged, they'd be glueing them up solid !)
I've dun all sorts of indy links, from the well known tiddlers on the Russki jobs by UM in your favourite scale on up to whoppin' great lumps of 35th scale Dragon Maus tracks and never had a moments problem with assembly or anything else. I've had all sorts of frustrating run-ins with "workable" tracks (which never are !) so my question still remans: why make them workable in the first place? Pointless exercise IMHO π₯Έ
In other news, the Meng Panther A's chassis is assembled, and a pause has been called,π€
thunking in progress, should I assemble the basis of the upper hull and turret before playing with this, one wonders - I really do not feel like adding it to the relevant parts whilst they're still on the sprues....π€
Bear with me folks, pretty sure which way I'm going with this... π€―π

Aaarrrggghhh ! π€―π€¬π©π©π©
After all that, the dang Zimmerit decals are past their use by date and self destructed when they met the water, instantly shredding, then crumpling into useless tangled lumps ! Dang (and other naughty words !π€π€¬)
Right - only one thing to do, press on regardless, it'll have to be one of those very rare late Ausf A's that didn't get Zimmerit (most bods who see my collection won't notice the difference anyway)... I'm not going to waste munny on another zim set, nor am I going to fry my sinuses playing with Tamiya basic filler, Testors liquid glue and Tamiya Zim combs...
Doesn't bother me at all !

No need to be sorry, it don't bother me at all. I don't like the decal Zimmerit, it looks good until you paint it. One thinly sprayed coat and it all but disappears, which is hardly realistic. Some of the Dragon moulded on stuff does the same thing. π
Prefer the Tamiys peel off /stick on stuff, at least you can see that under paint. the real stuff was pretty prominent in photos, next time I do an A, I may try Tamiya's peel off stick on stuff intended for their Ausf D, it should work on an A methinks.π€
As I said, this one can be one of those oft rumoured last production Ausf A's that didn't cop Zimmerit, Unrepentant, dat's moi ! π

I've ordered some Tamiya peeloff/stick on zim for their Panther G, Ithink I can make it work on this A. π€
Won't actually know for sure til it gets here, so I'm going to build the ICM King Tiger in the interim π
I'll find something else to build if the zim sheets aren't here by the time the King Tiger is finished - possibly something Panzer IV based, I've got a few of those cluttering the stash, in terms of Flakpanzers and Tank Destroyers, (no Brummbars - dunno how I overlooked them - oops ! π³)
On with the show shortly ππ₯Έ

Does rather, doesn't it ? π€«π€
I'm not known for plans, cos If I try to stick to a plan, it never goes as planned π€―π
So no plans and no expectations, that way if it all falls in a heap, I'm not downhearted, just better for the experience..π
I'm not known for deep thinking either, think I need a cuppa - help !
ICM's King Tiger (the non full interior kit), starts with 4 pages of turret assembly stages, here pictured is mine at about page 3, left awhile whilst certain sticky bits were given time to dry out, before a tad of sanding took place (gotta get rid of gluey fingerprints somehow ! π) So far, its been an easy-peasy assembly says he (fingers crossed, hoping I didn't jinx anything by saying that openly) π€«

Didn't feel like tiggering this morning, I'll git onto it tonight, needed to kill about 15 minutes, didn't feel like playing with glue, so I chucked some paint at the early Panther F π
Still needs a few more touches, but the camo is dun, next stop the details need some attention from a hairy stickππ€

Cheers Bossman ππ
That was literally 15 mins freehanded with a Testors 470 airbrush, not bad for a quickie job π₯Έππ΅πΆ
It'll do me at least ! π
Wait til you see what I have in mind for the Kingy π₯Έ (assuming I can pull it off, pretty sure I can, given my memory and touch with a 470 seem to be working properly)

The two camo colours (Tamiya Acryls Xf-10 red brown and XF- 13 JA Green), were the 15 minute job, I sprayed the basic XF-88 Dark Yellow 2 about a week ago, π₯Έ
The Camo colours were sprayed freehand thru a Testors 470 at 16psi with a fine tip fitted to the airbrush, no dramas whatsoever (I still might decide to add freehand sprayed dots and give it an ambush finish π)
So much for those silly bods that say/insist the 470 is a toy, just cos its made of plastic and weighs five eighths of faff all (the metal bodied 770 is the same inner workings as the 470 but weighs (and costs) a heap more) π Not for me thanks, I'll stick with the 470 ! π

Nope,.... no cigars for that one ! π₯Έ
No rabbits to leave trails hereabouts, nor is it a garden path, which you could lead yourself up π, (as you'd seem to be doing, if it were a garden path), which of course, it isn't, so you're not... quite... ππ€―
