Basic assembly finished! I suppose I'll add some basic stowage, but the models themselves are finished. Really. IMG_6845 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_6846 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I have some basic crew gear bags that would be nice on these, gonna check references....

Good work on the only games in town, at least nowadays. I once had a resin turret that I sold; I mastered it using an Asuka shell and used Dr. Manasherob's drawings and photos to fabricate the bustle and the trunnion box. Neither DML nor MP Models got the shape of the bustle correct, but they can be improved upon as you have done. I despair of ever seeing an accurate M50 in styrene, though I've been told that when Tamiya visited the collection of the late Jaques Littlefield to measure up his M51 they also measured up the M50.

I despair of ever seeing an accurate M50 in styrene, though I've been told that when Tamiya visited the collection of the late Jaques Littlefield to measure up his M51 they also measured up the M50. I HAVE that turret with associated parts, in the box, waiting for my "crown jewel", the "same" M50 that MP models did, but with shall we say "better" parts. Every time I pull it down to look at it and think about using it, my mind goes: "No, dude, wait for the full-on M50 on the -A4 hull w/ HVSS, engine cover louvers and a three-piece FDA housing that you're wanting to do" and back in the box it goes. I will admit to just pulling it out and looking at it though, it's nice work.
And if Tamiya kitted that tank, my wife would immediately wonder why the closet in "my" hobby room will no longer also hold her three guitars in cases.

Fortunately, Russ, I have my hobby room closet and adjacent semi-insulated attic space to myself for kit storage. It would be explaining to the wife why I needed to order a dozen of those theoretical M50 kits that would be the real challenge...
Though only a couple of hundred of them were ever built, the variations in the M50 are far more extensive than in the M51, not least because nearly every original Sherman hull type was converted. If a new-tool M50 kit were to appear, it would instantly trigger one of my crazier project ideas: Five decades of one tank. I would start with an M4A4 in Commonwealth markings, followed by a 1956 radial-engine M50 in French OD. Then an HVSS/Cummins M50 from 1967, and a 1990s M60 HMGS from Chile. One tank, three nations, four configurations, five decades of service.

I like it! I've done something very similar with the M660 series, but just US and IDF examples, and am currently trying the same theme with Shermans, but just US and IDF. The earliest M50 I have in progress is the M4A4 based one in this thread. I had to do a Cummins powered VVSS example too, just because of the pic in T. Gannon's book showing a line of them next to some Continental powered M51s, which is next, along with an M50 on a big hatch M4A1 hull, using another MP turret and Tamiya's IDF M4A1. Piece 'o cake, right? And I may yet start a long hull HVSS project, but not yet. And yes, the Holy Grail of IDF Shermans will come along, I feel it. Working on my story now.....

The Red n Green storage boxes, really don't help much Russ. Just drop a sheet or 2 of copy paper behind them.
