As threatened, and in a feeble attempt to preserve my sanity, here shall be the place forever more for these two. I've been doing some basic stuff to the turrets, and I'm sometimes surprised at how different the MP and Dragon parts are. In general, the MP stuff is much better as far as accuracy, but the tooling quality varies, going from really good to really bad. In the end, they're pretty close though. Another thing: Dragon's "cast" texture on the mantlet was ridiculous, so I spent some time and used a bunch of MrSurfacer 500 to smooth it up. The mantlet of the MP turret is Verlinden, some reshaping done to it as well.
So far:

Shermans are like the '34 Ford Coupe. Easy to modify and timeless.

It's very concise, good info and some great drawings. With that in mind, here's a shot of the Cummins engined M50's rear after a few bits have been added. IMG_5321 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I also need to order Volume 3 of the Sherman books.....

I'm slow: two hours to build the infantry phone box..... IMG_5792 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I still need to clean it up a bit, but the basic box is done. And while I've been rummaging around in the parts boxes, I kind of started this, a true FrankenSherman, to be a rather early M4, not sure yet whose, but I have a forgotten couple of large baggies of Formations goodies, one for this and another a whole bunch of stuff to do an early welded hood M4A2 on the Academy M10, which I happen to have on the shelf of shame..... IMG_5794 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Ingredients so far: Tamiya lower hull, MP upper, Dragon turret and rear plate and Formations sponson fillers. Squirrel!

I had no clue how much tanks could be modified. Most of my armor viewing, has been finished projects.
Very interesting stuff, and good work.
