The Ebbro kit is a Lotus 49...they look similar to the 25 but it has a Ford DFV engine...I have a LOT of Ebbro kits in my stash...NICE kits...those folks that started Ebbro used to work for Tamiya a few years ago....hence the crisp detail !

P.S. the Lotus 25 has a Coventry Climax engine....it's roots go back to a water pump used in W.W.II !

Correct on the Ebbro kit being a 49... the engine isn't covered like the 25...

I think it was also the pump classed as 'man portable' carried on the old Green Goddess fire engines, believe me when I say they weren't that man portable unless you count a four man (minimum) to carry it!!!!

Some good history there Jed!!! I only know Joe as some time in the 90's while still in the army I did fire fighting duties and we had mothballed Green Goddesses and had to know them and their equipment inside out, that pump was not a lightweight!!

The Lotus 49 was built for the Ford DFV.....it was a compact engine...the only thing it had in common with other Ford motorsport engines was it had 8 cylinders.

It would be interesting to see the 2 comparisons, side by side.

How did they ever fit it in the 49? The 25 had the pump engine not the 49...

Here you go Bruce, this should help you out: 25 had a Coventry Climax FWMV, 1496cc, 90° V8 49 had a Ford Cosworth DFV, 2,998 cc (183 cu in) V8
