Sorry I don't have much of an update here. I've been working a lot and it's taking most of my time. I have been cleaning up the flash, mold lines, ejector pin marks and sanding for paint on some parts when I can. Woot, what fun!

Totally understandable. These things can make a big difference in the quality of a build.

I hear ya Bruce. It's one of those necessary evils Rather time consuming and mundane but you are correct. It makes for a better finished model. Plus it gives the primer/paint a good starting surface.

Between my day off last week and today I pretty much have the Olds ready for paint. I did most of the big pieces last week. Got the rear spoiler end piece and sides glued on and assembled the blower unit. I am probably leaving the ejector pin marks on the inside of the body. I have them sanded smooth but they could use some filler. I have Tamiya white filler but I'm not a fan. It seems to me to keep shrinking. Maybe I don't use it right. On another build I used it on I filled some flat places with it. I used a sanding block to be sure to keep it flat. After about the 10th time I filled and sanded it I gave up. It just kept shrinking and leaving a depression. I heard from someone to use 3M spot filler with the hardener. I haven't gotten any yet but if I can find some before I start painting I'll fill the pin marks. They aren't really noticeable unless you flip the body over. Body propped open for engine display should be fine. I also got to thinking, yes that can be scary, that since I will probably build my neighbor's old Charger BB/FC I'm going to build the Olds for the alcohol class. That would give me a pair and I get to delete some stuff that way

I did sling some paint yesterday. Sad to say I had the usual Pittsburgh weather. It was too humid. The parts blushed. I will redo the blue and red pieces but I think I can get away with the silver parts as being a lighter shade it isn't real noticeable. Paint is as follows, all DupliColor out of the rattle can: Black primer. I would have preferred grey or white. I don't have grey on hand and white primer over white plastic is too hard for me to see if I missed any areas. Engine block: Dark Gun Metal Frame etc: Pewter Rear Axle: Sonic Blue Puke tanks: Bright Red I still have a few more bits to paint but I will aim for a less humid day to spray. Glad I didn't set up my airbrush to paint the body though. Woulda been a disappointment.

I finally get to start on this one! The HEMI engine has too much chrome for my liking, so into the "Chrome-Away"!!

That do look like a lot of chrome. I think I read you strip it in bleach. Is that correct?
No time limit so...
Glad to see ya start it though.

Chlorine bleach is what I have in that jar. It's already working on the chrome, and it hasn't been in for an hour, yet.

Keep in mind that some chrome takes longer than other chrome. Even chrome from different AMT kits can take different amounts of time to come off.

Does it eat off that yellow film under the chrome too?

Does it eat off that yellow film under the chrome too? Not every time. I usually don't worry about that, because I paint the parts, anyway.
