I want to build the A-26K Counter Invader from the 1:48 Pro Modeler Kit #5920 and use the Resin after market kit and paint it according to the Vietnam Era paint scheme. The A 26 and subsequent versions flew in three Wars ( WWII, Korea and Vietnam ) There are still a few left and the one I'm attempting to build is at a War Museum in Korea. Still waiting for the resin kit to arrive, but can't wait to start it. There will be many changes to the kit as well as fabrications, and plating off of certain areas to accomplish this version. Wish me luck.

Very cool looking plane. I had an old maybe Monogram A/B26 kit back when I was a kid. I remember it had raised areas for where to put the decals on. I thought that pretty odd back then and still do yet it was a cool looking plane.

I thought that pretty odd back then and still do yet it was a cool looking plane. A neighbor friend of mine had that same kit; it was an elderly Monogram mold as I recall and that kind of "detailing" was common on kits from the fifties when they were much more toys than true scale replicas. His decals came apart when he tried to use them, so the kit was probably old by the time he built it (and this was easily 45 years ago). He wasn't as into modeling as I was, but was disappointed nevertheless. I was already dabbling with painting models, and had the little bottles of Testor's red, white, and blue available so I painted the markings on for him. Wasn't all that hard, as I recall, because of those raised lines. He was happy with the results. Neither of us cared that the stencil lines would be something like three inches tall on the real airplane...

Yes indeed that's the one. I don't remember when, maybe mid to late 60's, when I had that one. Don't even remember much about that kit except I thought it was a cool looking plane and the raised areas for the decals.

I saw them as a kid in the 50s and once in awhile in the 60s. Only one still flying and it will probably be gone soon also, along with the rest of us. That's why this is an important build to me.

Very nice! Have you thought about getting brass barrels for the eight Ma Deuces?

I thought about it, but it would be another $20 investment and I already have way more than spent my budget on this one.

Saw a build on Youtube, where he used the little magnets to hold them in the Bomb Bay and the wings. They beefed up the K Model, so it could hold twice it's normal ordnance, about 8000 lbs.
