Mike, back in 1977, I bought one of these brand new. 1977 AMC AMX Hornet hatchback. I called it a Lean, Mean, Green Machine!! (Wasn't really all that mean, tho!)  I loved that little Hornet, even tho 92MPH was all I could get out of the 304 V-8, automatic!!It handled great, rode good for the type car it is, and had the absolute coldest A/C of any car I've ever had!! Made my knees hurt, sometimes, because it blew straight on them! Mine had the bug decal on the hood, like this one:  |

When I had mine, I was told that only three of the green ones were sold in Tennessee. Only available in white, red, yellow, and green. Green was the rarest color.

Back then, I didn't even like green cars until I bought that one! HAHAHA
It was a toss up between it and a red one. I got a better deal on the green,
and there were several red ones on the road, already.

I've never owned a true green car, teal on the Comet originally but to me that was more blue then green and it got changed in a few months of owning it. Most of my cars have been red... Laura's Kia is seafoam green though... My sister had a grasshopper metallic color on her 69' Cougar with a partial white vinyl top and white interior.

Turtle car!!! LOL!!! The only AMX I would have driven would have been a 71 Javelin, those were hot looking and drove well!!!
