Bikes sure have come a long, long way,........... Here's my good 'ol 1983, KZ750L3, the "Black Widow". I am the original owner, bought it off the showroom floor when I was stationed at HAFB, NM. I still have it in my garage. I keep thinking of getting the carbs redone and get er up to speed, but the size of the rodents around here have me thinking otherwise. I'm not 21 anymore, lol. This was a limited edition from Kawi, only 3k sent to the states, has only 32k miles on it. Crotch rockets are great, when you're young, but get past 30 and you could be asking for trouble. It's got shaved foot pegs and scraped case savers from those countless runs through the Angeles Crest Hwy in So cal., the “Super Bike Highway”. She's thrown me off four times, hence the name "Black Widow". I don't think I'll push that issue. Some foul language, mute it, but it gives you a good idea why this hwy is so addictive. You might get the idea Law Enforcement is use to this kind of activity in this canyon, lol. Note the med-helo at the start of the run. This guy really lays out the correct way to make a canyon run.

Life is funny, Joe. We both graduated in that valley, only a few years apart. We never met, went our own different ways in life and now we're less than 10 miles apart, after all these years. What a trip!
Ya, that ACH was one heck of a fun, gorgeous run. Ah, the good 'ol dayz, lol.

Don't forget the history. Let's keep it alive, at least online. This machine is the Mauser Monotrace. The Monotrace solved the problem of coming to a halt without falling over by having two small extra wheels (complete with mudguards) that were lowered by means of a elongated hand lever when stopping. The wheels were swiveled upwards rather than being retracted into the body, so even if the driver forgot to lower the wheels when stopping the car would tilt but not fall over completely. It was powered by a 510cc single cylinder motor. Very few were made and even fewer survive today.

This photograph goes back some time, believed to be around 1914-15 outside the Enfield Cycle Co office. Capt. J.E. Alkin & Segt. J. Cocker can be seen trying out the the Royal Enfield 6HP V-Twin with machine gun sidecar. What a fascinating setup!

Lovely stuff, I love an old bike much more appeal to them than the modern day racers
