Keith Thank you kindly my good man. Jcon Thank you kindly brother. Years ago, I saw a program on the restoration of a late model Bf 109. When they got to the tear down of the DB 601, the crank shaft was taken to Rolls Royce Aircraft Division for inspection. The crank shaft checked out. The catch was the individual had said, "Do not break this. All of the tolerances are right down the middle. We would not be able to build you another one". Talk about precision! Buddho Thank you very much my good man.

The twins are maturing nicely! I really like how these Eduard kits fall together.

Jcon Thank you brother. Rick Thank you kindly my good man. There are some components that do fall together with this kit....others require very careful assembly and gluing. Otherwise, it'll be the physical embodiment of regret. Dauntless Thank you very much. Progress at the bench has been in fits and starts of late. Lots of irons in the fire. I may have also lit a couple of backfires. Oh dear! More paint slinging has been going on. The landing gear, doors, props and spinners have all received their base colors. Detail painting and weathering will happen later. The oleo's were painted with Vallejo Chrome. This is the prop and spinner for the -13. The dry fit to the cowl revealed the the props rub the front of the cowl. The was remedied with a punch set and a piece fo 0.010" styrene stock. Here are the props in their final painted form. Final weathering has yet happen. The decal for the -13 spinner went on quite nicely. I snugged it down with Walthers Solvaset. The -11 received its gloss black primer several days ago, in preparation for the BMF. Here is yesterdays progress. Vallejo Aluminum. I have since laid down a couple of other BMF colors to break up the finish. This will be the basis for weathering when I get the camo applied. The BMF was also largely an exercise for myself for when I finish an aircraft in BMF.

Jcon Thank you brother. Dukemaddog Thank you kindly my good man. Glad to have you along. Bruce Thank you very much. The base coats have started with the -13. The underside is a mix of color and BMF. The cowl is only loosely fitted. I was trying to line up color lines. .
The Light Blue is Lifecolor RLM76 with some hair spray technique. The scallops behind the cowl flaps is tape to protect the BMF that will be visible with the open flaps. One half of the stripe is done. I used Vallejo Insignia White for this. For the black portion I'll be using Mission Models Worn Black. The chipping of the landing gear doors. Chipping of the port side.

Keith Thank you kindly. Jcon Thank you brother. Jed Thank you. Read on....more chipping. The -13 has its camo colors. The underside isn RLM 76. The top side is mostly RLM 81/82 and a mix of RLM 76. There are some paint runs to touch up.

Jcon German aircraft certainly had some very nice colors. Thank you very much Jed Thank you kindly Keith Thank you very much. Yellow 10 (as it is now known) has all of its markings and landing gear installed. There is still some paint touch up to be done due the over sprays/spiders.
Eduard has done a commendable job engineering the LG. For me, aligning the LG to mirror each other has always been tricky with this type. Especially with the inward and forward cant of the main gear. The wheels are offset 8ยบ from the long axis of the main gear struts, making the wheels perpendicular to the ground. Then you also have to make sure they are parallel to the long axis of the fuselage. So, Yellow 10 is going to be up "on the blocks" until the glue is fully cured. Today I snapped the second pitot tube off. So, I built the replacements out of stainless steel hypodermic tubing and wire. I should have done this from the get go.
