6 weeks ago when I embarked on this journey of pain, suffering and self-discovery (aka reconstructive ankle surgery and recovery), I found an unopened monogram model from my late brother in law. It’s definitely not something I would have bought myself. I don’t feel like you should mess with the lines of the 50’s and 60’s cars. They were masterpieces! Nevertheless I put the model together I an afternoon. The model was rough, had mouse markings on it from a hole they chewed in the box, and my rustiness showed. This week I decided to revisit it. I’ve chromed the trim pieces and am repainting the body (dark blue and white). I am a “rule follower” as my wife tells me, but I’ve learned a lot from you all already. Like: the result doesn’t have to look like the box—it can be better! I will probably leave this as the street machine, but am going to class it up a bit!

This looks good have you finished it yet or did I miss it I haven’t gotten back around to it. Spring projects have taken over my evenings. My first order of business will be to finish my ‘53 Ford and then either this one or finish the decals on my Super Hornet

Last night I cut this one apart again. Over the last few months, it's been my "paint" mule as I work on my "craft". I threw it together in just a few hours and it shows, but you can't do that body style justice in just a few hours. The model called for no painting, just gluing and as a first project, that's all I did. Before yesterday, one fender was dark blue, a door was light blue, the fins were gloss white, the window posts silver/chrome and another fender in black.
So, the body work started last night. I sanded down and smoothed out the body and put a coat of Sublime Green on it. I'm looking at a sublime green body with either black or black chrome trim and black flames painted on instead of the factory decals. Right now I can't find the rear shocks or the exhaust system (Not sure this one had it in the box). Working with my wife on a coordinating color for the interior.

Like I said, this WAS a paint mule:
The new paint job will be sublime green for everything but the trim. That will be black chrome. I am also going to have to look at the suspension a little closer and see if I can find some shocks. This one comes with the 350 V8. I've got some extra parts from the 1988 Chevy monster truck to complete the engine. (Lost a few parts in the original build)

Funny thing though, is that it looks yellow to me. Being colorblind, these shades of green look yellow. At this point I'm "looking" for parts. I realized Saturday that I have misplaced the hood, the bumper is in my monster truck box and one of the front spring assemblies is somewhere else I can't place right now! I've been looking at modifying the stance a bit. Not necessarily turning it into a low-rider (because I don't really go for the low-rider look), but I want to drop the suspension just a bit.

Drivers side about done—after I clean up a little goofage around the trim.

Black chrome gives it a sinister edge!

Sublime yet sinister. The chrome rims are going to get a fresh coat of the sublime green with gloss black center caps. The grill and headlights are going to be the ones I have to think about a bit more.
