Jeff Thank you kindly. Bruce Thank you very much. It's a constructive outlet for the undiagnosed OCD. Carl Thank you kindly my good man. Glad ya like it. Ogrejohn Thank you for the compliment. I was able to steal away some bench time today. Weathering has commenced. I am using Abteilung oils for this. I'm kinda playing around with a couple of techniques. I'm not going to beat the crap out of the paint job, as I'm figuring these beasts are pretty well maintained. Now if it were a training tank....that'd be another story. I scratched the power cord from some 0.010" lead wire wrapped around a drill bit. I couldn't find any reference pics for this, but I figure the power source is not going to be batteries. The coax Ma Deuce is now a permanent fixture. The right side TUSK II panels are now glued in place. Still more weathering yet to come. Now I thought this was a nice touch. This armored glass panel folds forward (on the actual Abrams), so to protect the glass in the folded state, and keep an errant foot off of the glass, the diamond tread was supplied in the PE set. I decided to play with Vallejos decal Fix and Medium for placement of the decals. It seems to work nicely with them. Very little silvering, that may not be visible in the end. The tonnage marking. It settled down rather nicely over the anti-slip coating. More decal shots.

Keith Thank you kindly for that high praise. Jcon Thank you as always brother. Jeff Thank you. I was a bit worried about the tonnage marking, but no problems. Mark Thank you very much brother. The 50 cal belts are indeed included in the kit. Carl Thank you very much my good man Jed Thank you good sir. I decided to start the weathering a bit differently. It's been a while but I'm trying my hand again at oils for the weathering. Not going away from acrylics. Just trying out some new stuff. Thats all. The weathering has started. For this I've been using Abteilung oils, and using off the shelf distilled mineral spirits. The spirits I use is not too hot to use with the models. Now mind you, the weathering has only just begun....

I'm liking the rusty spots on the weld seams. Being a retired pipefitter welder, I've seen plenty rusty welds over the years!

Tastfully subtle, but the kit has great details to start with.

Keith Thank you kindly my good man. Question...With what they weld with on these beasts, would the seems rust? I'm not a welder, but I do know that all welding materials are not created equally. Bruce Thank you for the compliment. The kit is has a plethora of detail. Jcon Thank you brother.
I'll be at the bench again later today. First, there is no rain coming down so there are chores to be done.
