A new project & commision for me this and a totally different period of history. A friend at work has asked me to build a small diorama for him depicting one of the battles. In this instance Isandlwana. He has actually been there and has supplied me with loads of pictures and even a rock from the battlefield! The figures are 75mm & white metal, lots to do on them and sort out a base display so this is certainly not going to be a quick build!

Im in for this. I was born i Durban which is about 2 hours from where this battle took place. Been there a few times and every time I go back i get goose bumps.
The battle of rorkes drift that followed the battle of Isandlwana was an amazing story. And if you get a chance to read up about it Id definitely recommend it.
If memory serves me correct, something like 150 british troops held off 3 or 4000 zulu warriors.

I'll be watching this with interest as well. Will you incorporate the rock in the diorama? That would be most cool! The Zulu Tribe was completely wiped out, later on, wasn't it? No they weren't. I good quantity of their male population was extinguished, but they did survive. There is still a Zulu 'nation' as it were.

Still reading up on this and working out base size etc, told you it would be a slow one!

Thanks for letting me know Pete. I'm sorry for responding so late. I just found 15 bookmarked Threads that I never got E-mail notifications for and this was one of them.
