I was in Michigan once, long enough to eat a burger and drink a beer then continue on my way. I did spend about five years in Colorado, tho...A town called Trinidad where I attended the gunsmithing school P.O. Ackley started amongst other things. Good old Las Animas county. At the time I was there I think the population density was roughly 5/8 of a person per square mile which suited me right down to the ground. It was here I finally learned to endure largely flat ground altho for the first year or so when I'd go prairie dog hunting I'd have to stop occasional and find an arroyo or irrigation ditch to roll into so I'd have something around me. I was somewhat jittery that first year

Took a few days to go up to the Little Belt mountains, formed during the Devonian epoch. Limestone thru and thru, and you can find seashell, trilobite and crinoid fossils at seven thousand feet

An eroded limestone knife edge feature called Daisy Notch

Looking southwest from about a quarter mile north of the notch itself. The rock up there is fractured and unstable so I did not wish to get any closer to the edge

So that's part of the Belt mountains

Looks pretty big! I also read that a black bear walked right into a restaurant in downtown Gatlinburg, TN.
