Noticed this particular category and saw not much action has happened here for quite some time. Since I'm new to the site, I thought I'd drop a photo of my Opel on it for giggles. Found this on ebay a few years back. My first car was a '74 Manta and been kicking myself for ever getting rid of it. Car had already been restored when I got it. I tried my hand at with a '72 Opel GT and was making good progress until a garage file ended that hobby.

Thanks, that's Ceazar my big boy. Unfortunately I lost him not long after. He was my buddy.

Opel looks great, dude! I always liked the Manta better than the GT (baby Vette). Sorry about your designated driver. I had a pooch that wouldn't let me take the convertible out without him in it!

Fantastic Rick, huge Manta fan here. I briefly owned one A series like yours, a 1.9SR and then three B series, all 2.0SR. Really nice cars but as a daily driver very uneconomical especially with Automatic Transmission as most of mine were. A period mod was to junk the awful Solex Carb for a Weber replacement, they went better and were slightly more fuel efficient. Keep an eye on the fuel pump sealing gasket, they start to leak out of spite! Enjoy...

Thanks Mence. Appreciate knowing another has experienced the joys of Opeling. My first was a '74 yellow/black Rally back in high school. This one is a Luxus or "Luxury" model. Back then, their idea of a luxury model was an automatic tranny, upgraded fabric, and a vinyl top. Ooh! Only about 10k of this version actually were imported to the US so it is a bit of a rarity. It does have a 1.9 liter in it and a Weber carb. The leaky fuel pump was replaced with an electric pump. I think that's a negative for economy but it does eliminate the leak problem.
