Howdy Gents,
Just a short fill in on the details to get everyone up to speed. This dio has certainly been in progress for some time, so trying to post the sequential pics would not only bore the heck outta yall, it would take me forever to do it. So, I'll start where I left off from the move to OSM and Ruck On from there.
At this point the figures have been completed as well as the bikes, pics in the appropriate completed sections of OSM. Right now I'm weathering the wall to the cemetery and experimenting with Mig's moldy colored washes, and soon I'll have a go at adding the moss affect on the water fountain, etc. Since veggies will be the most important aspect from here on out I'll be asking for honest, no Bravo Sierra, assessments of my work. Most of yall who know me know I'm not afraid to go back and redo a section if need be, so please, let er rip if it truly calls for it. But please, don't wait till the fat lady sings before ya speak up, HA!
Please excuse the color tones in these pics, they didn't process properly, but yall have a basic idea of what I'm after. The wall will have plenty of ivy crawling up and over and a few bushes in front. I must say, seeing Jan's, i.e., tuyter's excellent veggie work on T/L really got me spurred on to get this done. Link:www.track-link.com/gallery/10707 Yall will enjoy his work too, he's been my special council on many occasions and just recently he has joined OSM.
I still have a lot of pre-coloring to do on the fountain before any resin gets poured into that puppy. You may also notice, if you saw this before, that the wall had to be lifted at least 3/4" to accommodate the height of the Ranger fig, he's a big boy.
A closer look at the fountain. Sorry for the lousy color tones.
The back side has been pre-weathered too.
In case you had not seen the basic layout before, here it is. So as you can see, it's a lot of big stuff going on in a rather small space, respectively, but I can't make the base any bigger. Mrs. Ski is already giving me the cross eye for having to move her stuff out of "my" curio cabinet to accommodate this dio in the first place. Now, can anyone please tell me how that works? Joe, Brotha, what gives?? Is it consistent with the red hair? Just askin.
The logistics of this small space is a bit twerky, but I think I got it as best as can be expect. Careful placing and facing of these figures will be the key to a successful outcome, IMHO. Also, securing the bikes with pins thru the tires without penetrating the rim will be my best bet. Any thoughts on that Gents, or successful stories on securing bikes to bases??
You can see from this angle why I had to raise the cemetery wall, it was a bit on the short side.
More to follow soon and thx for watchin. Cheers, Ski.

I'm a fan of this diorama, the 200mm figures are the best painted I've ever seen. The figures also fit the diorama with their interaction. The bikes are the icing on this wonderful cake of art ! Please keep them updates coming brothaS.

Makes no difference about the hair color, Ski!! Take my word for it!! This is a beauty of a dio, bro! I know some builders would drill the tires and insert pins to fit in holes in the base in order to keep the bike sitting still.

This is the first time I recall seeing the whole setup. This is fantastic! Personally, I think the one pea-camo'd soldier on the far side facing the Ranger should be turned slightly away so as to not have such an easy chance of spotting the Ranger. Then again, that might be why you positioned him that way to increase the suspense. Not sure of the placement of the bush in front of the gate; was it in a pot and got moved? These are all just questions and thoughts that come to my mind looking at this. Disregard anything that doesn't apply. That being said, the painting, weathering and detail are outstanding overall and will really make this whole thing pop.
I'm stunned at the quality of this work. Keep plugging man!

Thx Bucky, I'll see how the pin work goes, it's the only thing I could come up with as well. Now, as for redheads, Joe and I both love em, mine's definitely a keeper, lol.

Thx Mucho Brotha Joe, you've been a great motivator all along.
Hiya Duke, thx buddy. Ya, the placement is just to begin the logistics of the figures and I'll be doing my best to get a handle on their placements. The bush is just a weak illustration for now. There's so much veggie work to get after and I'll be posting the progress, get input from the crew.
Bruce, thx for coming along for this ride, should get interesting from here on out. IMHO, the easy work is already done, now I need to put on my gardener hat and get ta hoein, lol. Thx Bro.

Awesome work as ever mate Thx Pete!
Roger that, 10-4, Joe! I'll be 10- 6 in the bunker today, but we'll 38 in October at the predetermined 20. Might even have to go 10-7 for a bit if we spend too much of Uncle Rico's sweet moola, Bahahahaaaaaaaaa! Is Carl going to 38 with us in SPK?? Hopefully so, he's closer. Ok, show me 10-42 for now.
