Finding that one item you really want for a great price on Amazon with FREE shipping and ordering it...before reading the fine print...and discovering after the fact that the reason the shipping is free is because the item is coming from Hong Kong, on a slow boat (from China), and has a 6 to 8 week delivery estimate!!! I'm just glad it's not a critical item for my build!

What is it, one those boats they call a junk? LoL There is a reason they call them that, I think! I have received stuff from over there sooner than six weeks, but not very often.

I think the "official" Amazon delivery estimate is 20 October - 14 November!!!
Get your Christmas shopping done early!
It reminds me of the old days of the Sears or Montgomery Wards catalogs...now I'm dating myself.
Anyone remember S&H Green Stamps?

S&H Green Stamps....and Top Value Stamps. My Mom collected them. Top Value from the grocery store, S&H from the gas station.

My wife and I have ordered items thru Amazon that are shipped from China and it's worked both ways , fast and slow . Amazon will give you a delivery date and then keep extending it until the item actually arrives , which it finally did , two weeks late . On the other hand some items arrive a few days early so there delivery dates are just a quesstimation ,

Depends on who the actual shipper is... one time I got a kit from Hong Kong in 6 days...

Sometimes stuff actually arrives sooner. I order from Sincere Hobby, and use the slow boat method, and they are almost always earlier then their estimate.

I remember the S&H green stamps as well. What fun it was to stick them in the book for my mom.
The only Far Eastern model company I ever buy from is Hobbylink Japan and their shipping is fast! I sometimes get things four days after ordering, the slowest has been six days. I've never ordered from any other Far Eastern source.

Well that is disappointing. I was disappointed once when I got a metal barrel at a bargain price on e-bay. When it turned up it was a 1/72

At least you won't get stung like us here in the UK if we order anything over £15 (including postage) from non-EU counties. Import VAT @ 20% is collected by Parcel Force who charge and extra £13 to 'cover their cost' ! After Brexit, we'll pay WTF trarrif of 10% , then the 20% will go on to of that plus the £13 Unless our idiot politicians can sort themselves out and get some kind of deal together

Shipping seems to be a free-for-all here in the states. I see shipping charges that don't exactly match the sticker the post office puts on the package! I know they have to buy boxes and bubble wrap, but some of the postage charges add up to more than that! I guess it's a "for-my-trouble" charge!
