I'm Jarrod and I live in Virginia. I am a huge car guy and have been pretty much my entire life. I started assembling models at a young age and then started playing with the real thing and the modeling got sidelined. About a month ago I started listening to a podcast about cars and they discussed kits and it took me back. Working on cars is relaxing and I remember kit building to be the same thing. My 2 year old makes having a project car nearly impossible but kit building is not. So, here I am.
I picked up my first kit in over a decade the other day: 1:24 Tamiya '98 Subaru STI WRC. I loved watching that era of Rallye car growing up so I am excited to get at it. It has been a while and most of my equipment is gone. What few things should I 100% have on my table to assemble this kit? I used to use Testors tube cement and this orange label brush on cement. Any suggestions there? I still have the Exactos but need some new blades. I was never very good with decals but I read there is some solutions to help that, correct? Will need so brushed and primer. What else should I definitely have easily accessible?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for joining, Jarrod! We have a modest, but interesting forum, here. Enjoy, take a look around, and toss a couple builds our way!!

You can pick up extra blades for the exacto knife at Wally World in packs of 5 for not too much money. A good set of paint brushes and the colors you need for the current build. As for the decals Microsol and Microset both are excellent to work with. Some tweezers might come in handy for small parts and some sandpaper in different grits... those little emory boards your wife uses on her nails come in handy too, but ask her first if you can have one or two to save the peace!!! LOL!!!

Small pliers and tweezers you can pick up in jewelery making sections at Wally, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby also... lots of different hobbies cross over for tool and supply sources!!!

Welcome Jarrod! I'm not much of a car builder; too much of what you guys do is to mystical for me. Still, I love looking at quality work so show us some of yours. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
