I was thinking something rich, like a metallic grape, burgandy or rich blue candy, in that range. May shoot the body silver or gold for the undercoat. Colors are usually my last choice, after I build and get a feeling for it. Bruce my man, In one thousand words or less What you got there is a straight up Sam Barris Leadsled (of course you already knew that, it just needed to be said out loud) ) or in this case a Bruce Osborne Styrene Sled. (here comes the S/S) You got to think about getting back on this one. You've got too much good work in it not to. Check these out original louvers out of this original ( I think about 1962) kit side of the box They are yours if you want to try them out. And if you don't use them I wouldn't be offended, they could find their way on another project. Just pm me your address (which I probably should have anyway) Is this the putty you have? I just got this at HL, for the Altered project I'm working on. I'm normally not a putty slinger, I have a Zap-A-Gap/accelerator technique I use. much like welding. But I have to mold this scratch built cowl to the body and the glue sands a little hard. I used the glue technique molding the tonnaue cover to the body, but as you can see that cowl is tight. where it looks like a gap is actually the sanded clear glue. In the custom paint world we always said that "It will tell you what color to paint it" on this one I could see, split at the belt line, silver bottom and gold top, base coat with Candy over, to give a subtle two tone. and of course Lakes Pipes. Well now that I told everything you already knew, I'm gonna look for another thread to hijack...LOL Seriously, could use your address, hate to waste a perfectly good letter bomb on the wrong address...HaHa Brothers on the Road Jim

Jim, I sent you a PM. All of your suggestions and comments are very welcome. This project kind of stalled, because there is sooooooooo much lead here. The louvers you show were used on another Custom car built here a couple years ago. My work area is kinda cluttered with too many projects at the moment, but I'll pull the box out and see if inspiration strikes. The comments and spurning do help and thanks to you and Joe for that.

Thanks Ski. After sanding more, scribing doors and front vent, applied some Tamiya putty to low areas, where chrome parts were removed and left negative space. Next, more sanding. Who knew??

Thanks Joe. Sanded all that down and added some more in the low spots. Now to let it dry and sand some more.

Reminds me of the Cholo rides coming our of East LA, ese vato! Now, if you could just add some bouncy suspension, we be jamming!
That looks like a lot of sanding. Are you wet sanding to keep control, or not?
