I made this model to simulate my own hilux surf, it's pretty accurate in detail to my 1x1, pics pretty much tell the tale so i'll just add that the kit was from the USA and is the "swamper" kit by Aoshima, being for the us market it had a left hand drive dash so i needed to take a plug from a rhd kit (which was the wrong "gen, and earlier MK surf) managed to make a decent dash out of clear casting resin, also i needed to make my own rims to simulate the "Cragg country raceing rims i have fitted, tyres are a tad over scale to mine which are 33"'s the kit one are more 35"'s but not too far out and i couldn't find any other tyres on the market anywhere near these, i really went overboard with l.e.d's (as i have in the 1x1, i also had to open up the hood as the kit was a "kerbside" kit and mak what's suppost to resemble an engine with an intercooler which i fitted to the 1x1, light bars and spotties are from alloy tube with the l.e.d's flattened off, thanks for looking [/img] Got fed up with clicking back and forth between here and photobucket (which keeps "freezing") so here is the link to the album (i hope) s63.photobucket.com/albums/h139/ian619/my%20Hilux%20surf/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ20 some pic of my 1x1 (first one is when i just got it, bog standard, 6 years ago)

An amazing likeness to your 1:1! And those killer LEDs just set this model apart from the others! Excellent work, popeye!

Thanks for the comments, had the 1x1 about 6 years, i'd love to fit 35"'s but getting the wife in and out plus getting it in the garage makes that a no-go, this one is the much derided 2.4 turbo deisel, the 3lt is much better, more powerfull for about the same mpg, i understand these "surf deisels are pretty rare in the us, the equilivent sold there as here is the 4 runner useually a v6 petrol (gasolene) all surfs here are Japanese "imports", these imports are useually rust free unlike the runners that started their life in this rain sodden country ;D good ole trucks tho, messing with it keeps me sane (or nuts in some peoples eyes)

popeye, A beautifully built representation of your 1:1 . I have to agree , that your LEDs are C :oL. Your attention to detail and assembly make this a STAND OUT model!!

I have seen a lot of popeye's LED work on another site. Hopefully, he'll put some of those here for some new members to see. I'm also trying to coax him into putting a how-to on here explaining the ins and outs of placing LEDs in a model!!
