This Air Force trainer is one of the better Monogram 1/48 scale kits that I've built. There was minimal clean-up needed, and everything fit well. My biggest problem was painting the framework on the canopy. Fortunately, there were 2 included in the kit- a one piece, and a multi piece one. I tried 3 times to do the one piece canopy, but it just kept getting worse. I used a Tamiya paint pen on the multi piece canopy, and although I'm still not happy with the results, I figured I'd better quit while I was ahead.

I've seen different ways in old scale model mags, to paint canopies. Most often its cutting tape as masking. The other is brush on liquid frisket. Congrats on building and honoring one of the prime trainers of WWII !

I tried the tape, but it wouldn't stay stuck down at the edges. I had tried bare metal foil on a previous model, and had a lot of trouble getting it off after painting-plus it left adhesive residue behind. Liquid mask would probably be worth trying. I have a couple dozen more planes to do, so I figure I should be able to come up with an acceptable technique by #22 or 23.
