Hi, all!
I have thought long and hard about this thread. Having created this forum nearly thirteen years ago,
it's difficult to think about not being able to be the main admin. I've seen many ups and downs around
here. As long as I am able, this forum will still be here.
I've had some health setbacks recently. Last April I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. In October, I
had my diaphragm worked on so I could regain use of my right lung which had been dormant for seven
years. All is well with the lung. However, in January, I had another prostate biopsy. This was on a Friday.
By Saturday night, I started getting sick. Stubbornly, I resisted going to the hospital until my wonderful
wife had to call 911 Monday morning. She wore her back out and strained her hands and fingers trying
to get me out of the bed and into the living room. I had no muscle control, and couldn't do it myself.
Finally, we made it, and the EMTs got me into the ambulance. I spent three nights in ICU, and one night
in a regular hospital room. I was being treated for septic shock. I very nearly died right in the bedroom!
In the meantime, I found out the biopsy indicated that my prostate cancer has
advanced to the stage where I either need to have surgery, or radiation treatments.
Also, on April 29, I'm having my pacemaker replaced. It was installed in July, 2013. The doctor (now retired)
then said the battery would last about seven years. My math tells me I'm on year number eleven!! The new
doctor at Vanderbilt let me know just a few days ago that the battery has finally run its course. They will
replace the entire pacemaker with a new and improved model, along with one of the lead wires. Should be
an outpatient type thing, but you never know.
Oh, and I'm due for a pesky colonoscopy, too!!
All the above is based on a true story(mine). It's a lot for a 68 year old retired pipefitter to go through!
In view of all I am facing, I have set up a succession agreement with the ProBoards Support Team, so
this forum may continue in case something doesn't turn out quite right with my situation. This agreement
names the member of this OSM who would take over ownership of this forum, in that case.
If anyone has any questions they would like to ask of me, please submit them in the form of a PM on this
forum. I will lock this thread, so we can keep such conversations on a more private level.
Thanks to each and every member of OSM for helping to make this a great place for scale model builders
to showcase and learn about the hobby we all love!
Again, thanks to everyone!
