Fabulous stuff, Joe! I love the VW Beetles; my first two cars were a '65 handed down from Dad and a '64 replacement. The '65 was a putty color with cream & burnt orange interior originally; we repainted it a Porsche silver color and reupholstered it in a black/gray/white herringbone cloth and black vinyl when I was a Junior in high school. I got to drive it for less than two years before a movie date ended badly: Car was stolen while we were in the theater. The police sympathized but told us the car was likely already disassembled and on the way to Mexico by the time we found out. This was in 1981, and Beetles were being stolen and stripped for parts because legal parts in Mexico were terribly expensive and the cars still in production. A Cal-look '64, pale green and plaid cloth, followed. That lasted about three years; it was totaled in a collision (pickup turned left in front of us) on spring break of '85. My then-fiance and I had just finished booking flowers for our wedding the following June after we graduated from OSU. Fortunately no injuries other than bruises, despite the car not having seat belts.

Thank you my friends! I never owned a bug but rode in a few. Most of the ones in my area were turned into a dune buggy, I lived in the Mojave desert of Southern California.

Thanks so much Ian! It turned out much better then I thought it would! Now to see what I can accomplish in my retirement years, between traveling, photography and woodworking! LOL!!!
