Hi guys , I thought it was about time I learned a new skill , I have a couple of stalled builds that need to be a bit rusty so it is about time I figured out how to do it , I started with this 67 Camaro chassis this is from a incomplete kit I have so I figured it was fair game for a bit of practice , I like how it turned out so now I guess i'll have to find the parts that are missing from the kit so I can build it . So I think the system I have come up with works ok , more practice needed and maybe a couple of tweeks to perfect it but I went ahead and tried it on one of the stalled builds it's a post apocalypse 06 Dodge Magnum ( or it will be one day )

Thanks santeras , basically I wanted to find a way of doing it with stuff I already had at hand ( I'm out of work at the moment so no money to spend on weathering kits and stuff like that ) , so I primed and painted everything with satin black ( the hood on the dodge was painted red , you can see its a lighter colour as the red shows through in places ) , once it was touch dry I used a brush and some celelose thinners and just kept dabbing at the paint surface , after a couple of minuets the surface goes tacky and you can kinda move it around with the brush , just keep messing with it until you get a finish that is all pitted ect like a rusty surface . ( this is a rat rod T , another stalled project waiting for rust ) once it's dry I dry brushed it with three different shades of matt brown , starting with the darkest and working to the lightest , I used Revell aqua color leather brown ( 36184 ) , rust ( 36183 ) and brown ( 36185 )

That looks pretty dam good, well done, this is something i need to master, thanks for the tips, i'll have to have a go at it, like you say it's probably best to try it on an old model you aint to bothered about, i've wanted to rust up a couple of things but once you get it sparyed and looking good it's a very hard decision to mess up a nice paint job, i really want to add road dust to this kenworth but the paint looks so nice its going to take me some wilpower to spray dirt on it
