I started this last March and it has kind of sat around since. This is the 1/350 MikroMir kit of the Skipjack class sub. I am building it as the USS Scorpion which was lost with all hands on 22 May 1968. The kit is pretty simple and straight forward. I supplemented the kit with a 3D printed prop from Ebay to replace the kit one. The kit went together well though some putty and sanding was needed on most seams. I picked the kit back up a few weeks ago and finished adding the last of the major parts and the seam work. I initially painted the model as the Scorpion appeared in the last photos taken of her in Naples Harbor before she departed for Norfolk. At that time the sail and vertical tail fin were painted in Ocean Grey. I used the correct colors and all but was not happy with how it looked. It just was not pleasing to me, so I gave the grey areas a light sanding and resprayed those areas to match the rest of the hull. I was much happier with how that turned out so went on and gave the model a coat of clear gloss to prep it for decals. The next step is the decals, which I hope to get to over the weekend.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. The past few years have not been exactly hobby friendly to say the least.

I've never tackled a submarine kit before and what you've done with this one is truly inspiring. For being a simple and straightforward kit you sure put a lot into it and finished this out VERY well. That's some good work Ernie.

Quite like your subs Ernie, not a subject I’ve tackled but you make them look pretty good.
