So, as you can see, I have a 'before and after' diorama here. The green Impala shows what it would have been before being freshened up! The tarp is made from a piece of paper towel. I soaked it in a mixture of white glue and water and formed it on the body and left it to dry. It holds its shape like this all the time. The vinyl top is made from masking tape. I used various weathering methods on this old beater.

The blue Impala shows what the car would be after being rescued from the scrapper and brought back to life! most of the interior parts came from the parts box. There is a tonneau cover over the back seats. All the customs panels came from the kit, exept the lisence plate frame. I scratchbuilt it. The massive air cleaner actually came from an AMT early 90's Ford pickup kit. Thanks for looking in on "Rags to Riches"!

This was actually my first ever diorama. I had fun on this one. I'm getting geared up to do another one. It's been 11 years since I finished my last one. This one is older than that, even!!!

It really is weathered then!! Awesome diorama - I love how you have used just normal household items rather than off-the -shelf aftermarket diorama items.
Love the tyre swing.

I always try to think in scale. I try to invision what something might be used for on a model or diorama. I had a tire swing when I was a kid. Only, it was way more worn out than this one!!!!

Thanks, Keith! If you have a well-stocked hobby shop nearby, look for a package of material called "Rustall". There are four different steps there that can be used to weather a model. Also, artist's pastels can be used, too, as well as backing powder, baby powder, table salt, and many other household ingredients. Just start thinking in scale and the possibilities are endless! Have fun with it!

Those seats in the blue one are Recaro seats that were in a kit back in about 1990, or so. I thought they would look okay in this build.
