I bought this kit a while ago intending to build a Cr2 as deployed in the Balkans, but after comparing it to a Tamiya Cr2 Desertized, I quickly determined it was a real dog. A bit of research led me to throw it back on the shelf. Then I scored another Tamiya kit, so I thought I could use Tamiya parts and proceed. Several times I had second thoughts, and if I hadn't been determined to use the small side skirts which allow the suspension to be seen, I would have bagged it. Although Trumpeter does the suspension better than Tamiya, the parts are rough, very rough. In the end I got it together using lots of Tamiya parts (tan in the pics), the "best" of the Trump kit (green) and a fair amount of plastic stock (white). I also built the dozer blade in the Trump kit, adding detail to make it look less toy-like. I made it easily removable, both for painting purposes and display options. Okay, before I got crazy with other builds, I thought I ought to move this along, so today I weathered. It's dirty, my thinking being that a dozer tank would be more so than a gun tank. Still to do: finish headlights, blend loader's hatch and MG, ad antenna masts and side skirts. This tickled me: this model got a second in class at Nats, much to my surprise and amusement. I guess being one of the least "modified" models I've done lately I had fewer chances to make booboos. Anyhootch, I have a nice silver gong on a little stand next to it now.
