I usually don't post pics of WIPs, since I have a bad habit of going from one kit to another in the middle of a build (AADD?). Since my last two builds went start to finish without interruption, I think this one might, too. So, with no further ado, I present the Lancia Stratos by Fujimi. This is a Fujimi Enthusiast series kit, which means a lot of tiny parts and detail. If you're not familiar with Fujimi kits, they're kind of Tamiya- in quality; same level of engraving and detail, but the engineering isn't quite as good, making them a bit more of a challenge to assemble. So far, the build hasn't been too bad- some issues with less than positive location of parts- except for the headers. They seem to have been done by a different designer than the rest of the kit! If you're building this kit for a contest, do your self a favor and replace the tubes with .060 solder-it would be a huge improvement. Note that by this next picture, there are already 60-70 parts used- more than some complete kits!: Tom

If you think about it, it's a lot like a Fiero- take a front wheel drive package, and drop it in behind the seats. I'm guessing, though, a Stratos would get a lot more attention on the street!

Well, this project is officially terminated! My policy for building a model is :"if it ain't fun, it don't get done"! This one crossed the "ain't fun" line today. It wasn't any one thing, just a lot of little ones: a lot of parts clean-up required, parts location was not always positive, instruction sheet ambiguous about some parts, construction sequence requires a lot of handling the body after painting, etc. This kit would probably build into a real nice model for someone with the time and patience to work through it- I have neither. My modeling time is limited to, at best, an hour a day, 3 or 4 days a week. being able to only assemble a couple parts per session just don't get it! Sometimes I put a kit like this back in the box, figuring I'll get back to it later. This time, though, the choice was to make it a parts donor.
