Just wanted to begin with a little preview of what's to come. Monogram's 1986 release of their F-20 Tigershark. I found this nice kit in a vintage toy shop in Omaha. My favorite part was that the original receipt was still in the box. It was purchased on 20 NOV 1990 for a whopping $3.50. I assure you; I paid way more than that when I bought it last fall. I gave the sprue trees a bath in warm soapy water to wash any oils and/or release agents on the plastic. I've started on the cockpit assembly; pics will follow soon.

Ahhhhh, 1990!! What a year.... I remember nothing in particular. Maybe our crappy green car.
Good luck on this build. I like seeing some older kits and what people can do with them!

Okie dokie...Cockpit is done. I used MM Acrylic Dark Gull Gray/Flat Black/Insignia Red for the main areas. I gave the nooks and crannies a wash with Ammo Mig's Dark Wash. Dry brushed instruments/avionics with MM Acrylic Flat White. Details were painted with MM Acrylic Insignia Yellow/Dark Gull Gray/Insignia Red/Flat White/Rust/Hellblau, MM Enamel Aluminum/IMP Japan Army Navy Green (Extremely diluted), and Tamiya XF-71 Cockpit Green. Everything was painted according to reference photos of the F-20/F-5E. The lighting is too bright, so the drybrush looks heavier than it really is and the gloss on the digital avionics looks duller than it actually is too nor did the green hue show (grrrrr). Might throw another dash of Future on them.

Thank you kindly.
In my opinion, one of the best features of the old Monogram kits, specifically jet fighters, was their detailed cockpits. Worst case, there might be a kit or two where you would want to upgrade the ejection seat.
