Man that's some good detail you laid out in the painting process. I was wondering about the flooding of details with the sponge style brush, and you covered that by explaining that care has to be taken. I was wondering about the usage of rattle cans but understand that you're not 100% set up yet. Thanks for the information and it's something I'll come back to when I get to the build that is gonna require it.

Have you considered tackling some of the more obscure variants of the Chally/Chieftain families? Things like the Iranian Shir or the Jordanian Khalid would seem to be right up your alley.

Fabulous as usual, Russ... Have you considered tackling some of the more obscure variants of the Chally/Chieftain families? Things like the Iranian Shir or the Jordanian Khalid would seem to be right up your alley. I have considered both, kind of thrashing around now as to how to go about it, or just build one of the Jordanian Challengers. Prime Portal has a walk-around of a Jordanian Challenger, but it's not really different from when it was in British service. I have considered the Omani Chally 2, but I'd need a few parts out of a Challenger 1 kit to do it. With Friuls and two kits, that's something for after the Publishers Clearing House knocks on the door. |

Before I start weathering the turret, here's a shot of the model as it sits now: hull all together and dusted, turret still in clear over a very light pin wash.  IMG_3503 by Russel Baer, on Flickr The thermal cover on the barrel took an hour-plus to paint, still needs a pin wash, then the whole turret will get dusted to match the hull. Okay, black is on and sealed, decals on and sealed and I've started the weathering, so far just a light wash on the hull.  IMG_3690 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Same as the last one, but with the regular skirts and carrying two fuel drums converted to extra stowage. |

Fantastic looking model with LOTS of detailing in your typical fashion Russ. One of these days I hope to be able to build armor models with this degree of realism.
BTW....I had no idea that you were even over 60 years old.
