AMT Chevrolet 454 SS

Since I've entered this in the MOM Contest I figured I'd at least give a short back story and a few more pics.


These trucks have always been an interest of mine as they were a sleek looking truck with an  "in your face" attitude and bold appearance. Although not fast by any means with 230 horsepower, they were aggressive looking, were among the fastest O.E.M. trucks out there at the time and they set the stage for the muscle trucks that followed in the years to come. It took me around 5 months to complete this one with most of the challenges being paint and the ending assembly of installing the body onto the frame. With a few pitfalls to work around it was a good kit to work with overall.

Thanks bud. I like these trucks ................alot. I don't have a 454SS but I do have a 406 small block powered 1/2 ton stepside. May have to find some pics.....

Fantastic pickup build! I built one exactly like this for my stepson back in about '95 or so. He had a real one in his driveway. I gave him the replica for his birthday. Seeing this gave me chills!

Thanks Keith. These trucks just look so dang cool. Not fast from the factory....but LOTS of potential. 

One of these days I'll build my truck in scale. Frickin' awesome trucks.

Man that's nice. Now I may be wrong, but was it you that was working on a black one just like your model a few years back? Dropped a 454 or a 409 in a short bed silverado? Your model is sharp!

Ya know 'Stang, I bought a case of these kits when they first came out.  I never saw one built until now and I sold/traded every single one of that case.  DOH!  You did this one justice and I really do like your fun with the interior!  If you should get tired of it, I'll gladly place it in my shelf!   Very nice, clean work but everything I see from you is.  Build on!!
