Not sure about dents, Steve. Not really sure how to go about that if I wanted to. Maybe warm up a small screwdriver blade so that it softens the plastic enough to make a dent, but not melt through? Dents are something that you don't worry about with tank kits, for the most part. Usually whatever would dent thin sheetmetal like tank fenders & sandshields would also just rip them off entirely. Might experiment on an old Sherman hull to see what effects I get; got several lying around. I'll be very much looking forward to the prospective denting process if you're gonna go that way.

Mustang, what Joe said, you won't have any problems. Thanks for the vote of confidence Steve.

Instead of a heated screwdriver for dents try a ball shaped diamond burr in a Dremel. If you don't have a Dremel, a 3/8 drill on high speed will work also. Don't push the cutter hard or you'll melt the plastic, and when you get the dents how you like them brush on a bit of LPC to get rid of the fuzzies that will be inevitable.
Yeah spare Sherman hulls for practice is a good idea you'll not want to start out on something you care about

I do have a battery powered Dremel, and a couple of different ball, cone, and cylindrical steel cutters. The technique you describe is probably great for small dents, and I will certainly do some practice. I wonder what would be best for a larger dent, the sort of major crease that might occur on the bottom of the bed if the rig pitches just wrong into one of those drainage ditches that are often dug across logging roads, and which sometimes wash out enough that it's still passable for a 4x4 but at the risk of bottoming on a large rock.

So, as noted in the Lates Grabs thread my stencils from AirSickstencils.com arrived today. To use my custom decals, I need a colored background so the white lettering shows up. Being an OSU grad, that must be Orange. This is a mock-up of how the stencil will be used, and a couple of shots of the stencil with the decal. Should do a beautiful job with little overspray if I can get it to conform tightly enough to the door panel.

The 30 gauge wire for the fuel transfer hose arrived today, nearly six weeks earlier than planned. Here's a scale 30 feet of it messily mocked up: Not a bad start. The wire has quite a bit of spring to it, so in final assembly I will have to tack it to the drum with superglue so that it spools in a more realistic fashion and drapes the way I want it to for the section from the drum to the fuel nozzle. I've tweaked the mount for the nozzle holder, and added punched discs as bases for the amber hazard lights. Across multiple projects it's been a productive couple of days.

I hear you on the parts molded in black gig. What were they thinking??
Good progress here.

I hear you on the parts molded in black gig. What were they thinking?? Good progress here. What indeed? Especially since they molded some parts in a blue-gray plastic too. That too would be challenging to overcoat with white, but less so. There couldn't have been much more cost involved to do the body parts in white or cream, or better yet do everything that way and just let us paint the assembled frame black.

Well you bring up a good point with the "money thing". It's gotta be cheaper for them to mold in black. My motto is...."If it doesn't seem right or if it seems weird....put a dollar bill on the other side of it and everything will make perfect sense."

Nothing new to report, Mustang. Another coat of white will go on today or tomorrow, and eventually it will be opaque enough to cover the black...
