Wow, where to begin..... Long story short, it was a worse injury than I thought, ended up with surgery again, same disc I smushed 25 years ago. I got out of the hospital on the 2nd of April, after a 6-day stay and am up and mobile now, healing well. It's still a few days until I can drive, but yesterday I sat at my model table for about an hour and put together some AFV Club M60 steel roadwheels (tedious and very calming). It looks like I'll be able to handle about an hour at a time on the bench for a while, good news. The other good news is that right before I began treatment for my back I got cataract surgery (new lenses) and yesterday I didn't need my Optivisor to work, only strong-ish readers. Now I'm afraid to look closely at all the stuff I've built in the last 10 years (that I still have anyway). Every day is better than the last, and I have no more pain, and what seems to me to be spectacular vision.

Glad to hear that you are on the mend, Russ! Among the things on my to-do list is to review all your M60 Build threads here. I've toyed with the idea for a while, and your work has been the inspiration...and I recently pulled the trigger. Soon to arrive from Sprue Brothers is an AFV Club M728 CEV, so expect queries to tap into your expertise. So it's imperative that your recovery continues apace so that you can continue to methodically produce your fine work.

Thanks so much guys! It's been a VERY rough month, (I can barely remember the last three weeks of March) and it's really, really good to get back into the community. Greg, beware: the M60 family tree has almost as many branches as the Sherman, jus' sayin'.

Rusty, glad to hear you're recovering well. That rocks! As for being fearful to look at past builds, don't be! Looking at all of them in close-up, blemish-revealing photography; no blemishes or issues show up at all. Your models still surpass anything I've seen.
Looking forward to seeing more!

Greg, beware: the M60 family tree has almost as many branches as the Sherman, jus' sayin'. Oh, I am well aware of the plethora of M60 variants! I fully intend to keep myself in check and stick to the engineering variants, like the CEV. Heaven help me if we ever get a bridgelayer version in styrene, however. That might be too much temptation to resist. This kit hasn't even arrived yet, and already I think of it as an excuse to build my M1070 HET.

Greg, hate to tell you this but Dragon does the M48AVLB....... I'm waiting for the M60AVLB so I can do the IDF version. I'm considering using the Dragon kit to do one without the bridge, since Dragon fluffed it so bad. Duke, thanks, it's great to be back, and I did turn on the lights in the display cases today, take a peek and not freak out. Just for giggles I started a project I'd had on the back burner for a while, nothing IDF, and really enjoyed working without an Optivisor for the first time in five years or so. It was also a test of how long I could stay in the chair, and I made a good two hours with no discomfort.

Trying hard Joe. I used to get tucked into something and lose track of time, forget to eat, then look at the time and realize I'd been modeling for three or four hours. Gotta pay attention now.

Two hours is better than no hours! Ed Zachary! Still too windy to paint, plus there is oak pollen EVERYWHERE, which I am highly allergic to, and would make it difficult to paint anyway, unless I was doing one of those wacky French camo schemes.....
